Baltic Panamax - Capesize indices down

PANAMAX
=======

The Atlantic Panamax market was stilled by holidays in Europe today.  Holidays
in the East are limiting activity there, but there was still said to be some
interest in period business.  Short period of 4-6 months trading has
reportedly
fixed LME tonnage at $11,500 daily on early May delivery.  A NoPac round was
reported done at $11,200 daily for an LME on spot delivery. The Baltic Panamax
index was off 12 today to 1713.

For Atlantic Panamax business the 1997-built 73,762 dwt Kalypso has fixed with
an unnamed charterer for spot delivery Barcelona on a trip (minimum 70 days
trading), with redelivery Singapore-Japan at $24,000 daily.

undisclosed charterer for May 10-20 loading 70,000 tons 10% coal from
Gladstone
to Visakhapatnam at $20,70.

CAPESIZE
========

There was very little to report for the Capesize sector today as holidays in
the
East and May Day holidays in Europe started to bite.  There was virtually no
change to rates on the absence of activity. The Baltic Capesize index edged
down 2 to 1494.

>From the Pacific, Noble fixed a TBN for May 20-30 loading 130,000 tons 10%
coal from Newcastle to Qingdao at $12,00.

HANDY/SUPRAMAX
==============

The overall picture for the Handy market saw little change today as the impact
of holidays in both the Atlantic and Pacific basins restricted trading.  In
the
Atlantic, a European run from the Continent to the Egyptian Mediterranean
earned
$15,000 nett for early May delivery.  There was some interest in period
trading
with a supramax fixing 3-5 months trading at $16,000 daily for mid-May
delivery
For the Pacific, a bagged rice cargo was said done from Thailand to West
Africa
at $10,000 daily.  The Baltic Supramax index fell 3 to 1098, while the

CAPE A rather slow start to the week for the sector, with the market becoming more active later on.
