Panamax market topped out in Atlantic


PANAMAX
=======

The Panamax market appears to have topped out in the Atlantic, with fresh
inquiry from east coast South America lacking and rates under pressure.  The
number of ballasters headed to the Atlantic remains significant and there is
still not much June business on offer.  There was some limited period interest
in the Atlantic, with 3-5 months trading reported done at $8,250 daily on
mid-May delivery.  Longer tonnage lists in the Pacific proved to be a burden
on the market, with rates easing on slow demand.  From the East, there was not
much new interest in period tonnage, but a 6+opt6 months period paid $10,500 daily
for mid-May cancellation. The Baltic Panamax index fell 51 to 1390.

Atlantic Panamax business included reports of the 2007-butl 76,611 dwt Shi Dai
1
fixing to Oldendorff for May 13-18 delivery Montoir on a trip via the Baltic
with redelivery Singapore-Japan at $19,500 daily.

The 1997-built 73,786 dwt Newcastle Max fixed to Bunge for May 18-23 delivery
east coast South America on a trip with redelivery Iran at $19,000 daily plus
a
$550,000 ballast bonus.

The 2003-built 73,975 dwt Aspendos has been fixed on subjects to the same
charterer for prompt delivery Gibralter on a trip via east coast South America
with redelivery Singapore/Japan at $17,250 daily plus a $725,000 ballast
bonus.

Bunge also fixed the 2000-built 74,381 dwt Clipper Emperor for May 12 delivery
Barcelona in d/c on a trip via east coast South America with redelivery on the
Continent at $13,500 daily

CJ International was the charterer of the 2008-built 76,611 dwt Wen Zhu Hai
for
May 25-26 delivery east coast South America on a trip with redelivery
Singapore/Japan at $17,250 daily plus a ballast bonus of $725,000.

The 2002-built 76,300 dwt Fu May has gone to AC Toepfer for June 01-05
delivery
Santos on a trip via east coast South America with redelivery China at $17,000
daily plus a ballast bonus of $700,000.

An unnamed charterer has reportedly fixed on subjects the 2007-buit 76,596 dwt
Enel-relet Coral Diamond for May 08-13 delivery Fusina on a trip via Brazil
with redelivery Singapore/Japan at $17,000 daily plus a $700,000 ballast
bonus.

United was linked with the 2010-built 79,800 dwt Mega Hope for May 20-25
delivery Drummond on a trip with redelivery on the Continent at $15,000 daily
plus a $450,000 ballast bonus.

Practica was said to be the charterer of the 1995-built 74,137 dwt Pruva for
May
16-21 delivery Lisbon on a trip with 2 laden legs, first leg via Brazil and
Argentia (with ore, then grain out), and redelivery Skaw-Cape Passero at $14,
000
daily.

The 1994-built 72,873 dwt Premnitz has gone to Norden for prompt delivery Fos
in d/c on a trip via Trombetas with redelivery Aughinish at $12,250 daily.

Voyage business paid $38,75 for a TBN fixed to SAIL with May 25-June 05
loading
75,000 tons 5% coal from Norfolk to Vizakhapatnam.

The Pacific Panamax market heard that the 1997-built 73,867 dwt Navios
Felicity
has fixed to an unnamed charterer for May 11-15 delivery Machong on a trip via
Indonesia with redelivery Singapore-Japan at $11,000 daily.

The 1999-built 72,893 dwt Alpha Happiness for spot deliveyr Kushiro on a trip
via NoPac with redelivery China at an unrepeatable $11,000 daily

The 2001-built 73,926 dwt Levanto has gone to an undisclosed charterer for
prompt delivery Machong on a trip via Indonesia with redelivery Hong Kong at
$10,600 daily.

It emerged that the 2011-built 75,000 dwt Good Luck fixed to Cargill earlier
this week for May 11-13 delivery Pohang on a trip via NoPac with redelivery
Singapore-Japan at $10,000 daily.

Pacific period business saw Glencore fix the 2006-built 82,191 dwt Iron Bill
for prompt delivery Tianjin for 10-13 months trading at $11,000 daily.

The 2011-built 80,598 dwt Nuri Bey go to Aquavita for prompt delivery South
Korea for 3-5 months trading and redelivery worldwide at $10,700 daily.

An undisclosed charterer took the 1989-built 68,395 dwt Feggites for May 12-17
delivery Hong Kong for 6 months trading plus an option of a further 6 months
trading and redelivery worldwide at $10,500 daily.

CAPESIZE
========

Midweek activity in the Capesize market led to very little change in rates.
The Atlantic basin saw a trans-Atlantic run ECSA/Med done at $10,000 daily plus a
$400,000 ballast bonus.  Out of the Pacific, spot business paid $7,500 daily
for a Kashima/China run via Roberts Bank. Voyage business from West Australia to
Qingdao is still holding steady at $7,50.  Fresh inquiry emerged in the East
for period tonnage, with one years trading done at $12,250 daily plus a $300,000
ballast bonus.  The Baltic Capesize index edged up 3 to 1628.

For Atlantic Capesize business, the 2011-built 115,000 dwt Chiara went to
Bunge
for May 20-25 delivery aps Recalada on a trip with redelivery in the
Mediterranean at $10,000 daily plus a $400,000 ballast bonus.

For voyage business, Ore & Metals fixed an Oldendorff TBN for May 25-June 06
loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Saldanha Bay to Qingdao at $14,00, basis 1.
25% total commission.

The 2001-built STX Pan Ocean-relet Alpha Cosmos went to Phoenix for May
27-June
01 loading 150,000 tons 10% coal from Richards Bay to Liuheng at $13,35.

LDH Energy was linked with the 2011-built Oldendorff-relet Hero for May 25-31
loading 130,000 tons 10% coal from Baltimore to Rotterdam at $11,50.

In the Pacific, Cargill was the charterer of the 2011-built 179,527 dwt
Shagangfirst Power for spot delivery Kashima on a trip via Roberts Bank with
redelivery China at $7,500 daily.

STX Pan Ocean has the 1995-built Ocean Dragon for May 21-30 loading 130,000
tons 10% coal from Gladstone to Liuheng at $10,40.

Prime East fixed a European TBN for May 24-June 02 loading 160,000 tons 10%
ore
from West Australia to Qingdao at $7,50.

Rio Tinto Shipping has taken the 2005-built 180,265 dwt Winning Confidence for
May 24 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Dampier to Qingdao at $7,50.

The charterer also took the 1996-built 172,612 dwt Cape Venus for May 24
loading 160,000 tons 10% ore on the same route and the same rate.

Period business included word of the 2009-built 169,001 dwt Navios Stellar
fixing to Vitol for 1-years trading with April 18-20 delivery retro-Singapore
at $12,250 daily plus a ballast bonus of $300,000.

SUPRAMAX/HANDYMAX
=================

Rates held steady in the Atlantic today, with Rotterdam/Turkey via WCUK done
at $17,500 daily.  Short period business of 3-5 months trading paid $8,250 daily.
 In the East, an EC India round via S.Africa was done at $12,250 daily with
prompt delivery.  A Far East/Australia round was fixed at $8,000 daily for May
10-12 delivery of a supramax.  The Baltic Supramax index inched up 1 to 1119,
while the Handysize index moved up 2 to 604.

For Atlantic Handy business, the 2010-built 56,825 dwt Porthos went to an
unnamed charterer for prompt delivery Rotterdam on a trip via west coast U.K.
with redelivery Turkey at $17,500 daily.  The business was originally reported
done at $17,000 daily.

AEC has the 2003-built 28,428 dwt Genco Challenger for May 10-14 delivery aps
Recalada on a trip with redelivery Morocco at $17,000 daily.

Oldendorff was the charterer of the 1995-built 43,108 dwt Delta Ranger for May
10 delivery Nouakchott on a trip via Brazil with redelivery Nigeria at $12,000
daily.

For period business in the Atlantic, the 2010-built 28,372 dwt Aktea R has
fixed
with Bunge for May 10-15 delivery passing Gibraltar for 3-5 months trading
with
redelivery in the Atlantic at $8,250 daily.

Pacific Handy business saw Panacore pay $12,250 daily for the 2011-built
57,000
dwt Aquila with May 12-13 delivery Tuticorin on a trip via South Africa with
redelivery east coast India.

The 2004-built 55,656 dwt Yuan Ping Sea will earn $8,000 daily for May 10-12
delivery Jintang on a trip via Australia with redelivery Singapore/Japan.

HMM has the 2011-built 57,970 dwt Spar Hydra for spot delivery Hong Kong on a
trip with redelivery on the U.S. west coast at $6,000 daily.

The 2004-built Anna Smile fixed to Cobelfret for May 17-23 loading 59,000 tons
10% bauxite from Kamsar to San Ciprian at $13,75.
