Panamax business in the Atlantic saw fresh inquiry from the UK-Continent
range but new business was scarcer out of east coast South America. From the north
Atlantic, charterers are paying a premium to go East, while from ECSA
charterers continued to draw tonnage from the Indian Ocean and further east at reasonable
rates. Rates eased again in the Pacific as available tonnage continues to
emerge. Demand for period tonnage remained, with an LME fixed at $11,000
daily for 4-6 months trading. The Baltic Panamax index fell 8 to 1258.
The Atlantic basin heard that Golden Ocean fixed on subjects the 2000-built
73,454 dwt Seajoy for June 01-05 delivery in the U.S. Gulf on trip to Iraq via
the Cape of Good Hope and redelivery passing Muscat outbound at $21,500 daily.
Azure was linked with the 2011-built 83,000 dwt Cobelfret-relet Fiskardo for
June 03-10 delivery Recalada on a trip with redelivery on the Continent at
$14,750 daily plus a $475,000 ballast bonus.
The 2001-built 73,810 dwt Glory One has gone to Egyptian Bulk Carriers for May
18-19 delivery Cape Passero on a trip with 2 laden legs and redelivery in the
Atlantic at $14,650 daily plus a ballast bonus of $475,000.
Aquavita was said to be the charterer of the 2008-built 76,444 dwt Ostria S
for
May 21-26 delivery passing Gibraltar on a trip with 2-3 laden legs, first leg
via Kamsar, with redelivery Skaw-Cape Passero at $13,500 daily.
The 2005-built 73,600 dwt Ju Da will earn $12,500 daily from Cargill for May
18-23 delivery Alexandria on a trip via the Black Sea with redelivery in the
Egyptian Mediterranean.
The 2000-built 73,281 dwt Darya Tara fixed to Windrose for May 18-20 delivery
Sines on a trip with 2 laden legs and redelivery in the Mediterranean at $12,
250 daily.
Libra took a TBN for May 15-24 loading 75,000 tons 10% coal from Richards Bay
to Mundra at $17,50.
Out of the East came word that the 1995-built 75,265 dwt Kayu Eboni has fixed
with an undisclosed charterer for May 16-17 delivery Hazira on a trip via east
coast South America with redelivery Singapore-Japan at $10,250 daily.
Oldendorff was the charterer of the 1999-built 72,893 dwt Future for May 18-19
delivery Lianyungang on a trip via east coast Australia with redelivery Japan
at $8,350 daily.
STX Pan Ocean has the 1990-built 68,675 dwt Huan Le Hai for May 20-25 delivery
Ulsan on a trip via NoPac with redelivery Singapore-Japan at $7,200 daily.
The 1992-built 69,451 dwt Marina Wave has fixed with an unnamed charterer for
May 20-25 delivery Qingdao on a trip via Australia with redelivery
Singapore-Japan at $7,000 daily.
Western Bulk Carriers agreed $11,000 daily for the 2004-built 76,466 dwt Grain
Express with July 15-August 30 delivery Singapore-Japan for 11-13 months
trading with redelivery worldwide.
In voyage business, Libra has a TBN for May 21-31 loading 70,000 tons 10% coal
from Samarinda to Mundra at $11,60.
The same charterer also took a TBN for May 21-30 loading 70,000 tons 10% coal
from Adang Bay to Mundra at $11,25.
For period business in the Pacific, the 2011-built 75,200 dwt Shandong Hai
Chang
was reported fixed to a Chinese charterer for May 23-28 delivery retro-sailing
Jintang for 4-6 months trading and redelivery worldwide at $11,000 daily.
The 2011-built 82,153 dwt Rosco Palm for May 24 delivery Rizhao for 3-6 months
trading with redelivery worldwide at $10,500 daily.
CAPESIZE
========
Capesize business slowed in the approach to the weekend, but rates trended
sideways on limited tonnage availability. In the Atlantic, voyage business
paid
$14,40 for a Saldanha to Qingdao. Out of the Pacific, Dampier/Qingdao rates
held around $7,75. There was also still some interest for period tonnage,
with
rates linked to the BCI 4 timecharter average. The Baltic Capesize index rose
6 to 1638.
In the Atlantic, Kumba fixed a TBN for June 05-10 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore
from Saldanha Bay to Qingdao at $14,40.
Another TBN fixed to STX Pan Ocean for June 11-19 loading 150,000 tons 10%
coal
from Richards Bay to Zhoushan at $13,25.
Pacific Bulk has a TBN for June 12-21 loading 150,000 tons 10% ore from
Esperance to Qingdao at $10,70.
>From the Pacific, Rio Tinto took the 2000-built Jiang Jun Shan for June 03-08
loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Dampier to Qingdao at $7,75.
FMG agreed $7,75 for a TBN with May 29-31 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from
Port Hedland to Qingdao at $7,75.
For period business in the East, the 2005-built 180,265 dwt Navios Fantastiks
has gone to CTC for 2+opt1 years trading with redelivery worldwide. The rate
for the first 30 days trading at the BCI 4 timecharter average, and $15,400
daily for the balance. The optional third year was said fixed at a higher
undisclosed number.
HANDY/SUPRAMAX

It was a very quiet day in the Handy sector today, with Ascension Day holidays
keeping traders at home. In the Atlantic, a supramax reportedly fixed 2-3
laden
legs from the U.S. Gulf at a steady $15,500 daily. Rates were not so lucky in
the East, where available tonnage is plentiful. An Indonesia/India trip paid
$9,000 daily plus a $90,000 bb for a supramax.
The Baltic Supramax index fell 2 to 1104, while the Handysize index gained 4
to 636.
Atlantic Handy business included reports of the 2003-built 50,326 dwt
Speedwell
having fixed to an undisclosed charterer for May 20-25 delivery in the U.S.
Gulf
on a trip with 2-3 laden legs and redelivery in the Atlantic at $15,500 daily.
Sims reportedly took the 2010-built Beautiful Rena for May 25-30 loading
45,500
tons scrap from the U.S.N.H to Turkey at $29,75.
The Pacific Handy market saw Ultrabulk fix the 2010-built 57,015 dwt Agia
Irini
for $10,750 daily with May 20-22 delivery Singapore on a trip via Indonesia
with redelivery east coast India.
Handysize tonnage saw the 2003-built 28,481 dwt DHL Forester earn $9,400 daily
from an unnamed charterer with May 22-27 delivery Singapore on a trip via
Australia with redelivery China.
Isaphia was linked with the 2010-built 55,085 dwt Nasco Gem for spot delivery
aps Samarinda on a trip with redelivery India at $9,000 daily plus a $90,000
ballast bonus.
The 2011-built 56,878 dwt Heilan Aroma has gone to a South Korean charterer
for
May 18-19 delivery Huanghua on a trip via Indonesia with redelivery west coast
India at $7,500 daily.
Also unnamed was the charterer of the 2010-built 57,307 dwt Global Brave,
taking
the veseel for May 19-21 delivery aps South Korea on a trip with redelivery
West Africa at $6,600 daily.
BHP Billiton has a TBN for June 02-08 loading 58,000 tons 5% alumina from
Bunbury to Richards Bay at $14,75.
Cobelfret took a TBN for May 27-June 02 loading 59,000 tons 10% bauxite from
Kamsar to San Ciprian at $12,50.
