PANAMAX

The Panamax market continued to drop today under the weight of long tonnage
lists and owners reluctance to go East. A Continent/China run via Murmansk
and the Cape of Good Hope paid $21,000 daily for spot business. A trip out from
east coast South America paid $14,000 daily plus a $400,000 bb for first-half
June delivery. A trans-Atlantic round from Gibraltar paid $10,000 daily for
end-May trading. In the East, rates were uninspired today, with a China/PMO
run via Brisbane and Iraq agreed at $11,750 daily for prompt dates. An east coast
Australia/S.Korea trip paid a low $6,500 daily for a 1994-built 69,000-tonner
on prompt delivery. There was still some interest in period business, with 4-6
months trading paying $10,250 daily on May 29th delivery. The Baltic Panamax
index dropped 32 today to 1237.
The Atlantic market included word of the 2001-built 75,129 dwt Medi Kobe
agreed $21,000 daily from Agroships for spot delivery Hamburg on a trip via Murmansk
with redelivery China via the Cape of Good Hope at $21,000 daily.
The 2000-built 74,027 dwt Tian Yang Feng will earn $14,000 daily plus a
ballast bonus of $400,000 from Bunge with June 01-10 delivery east coast South America
on a trip with redelivery Spain-Hamburg.
The 2006-built 75,500 dwt Navios Saggitarius was reported fixed to A.C.Toepfer
for June 05 delivery Recalada on a trip with redelivery Egypt at about $14,250
daily plus a ballast bonus of $400,000.
Cargill was linked with the 2009-built 93,297 dwt Chang Hang Ji Hai for
end-May delivery east coast South America on a trip with redelivery Skaw-Cape Passero
at $13,000 daily plus a $325,000 ballast bonus.
The 2006-built 74,259 dwt Yuan Hui Hai went to Cargill for prompt delivery
passing Gibraltar on a trip via east coast South America with redelivery
Skaw-Gibraltar at $10,000 daily.
In voyage business, the 2011-built 93,115 dwt Doric Champion has gone to
Torunlar for May 24-27 loading 70,000 tons 10% soybeans from the U.S. Gulf to
Turkey at $29,00.
Tata has the 2011-built Navios Marcos Polo for May 28-June 01 loading 70,000
tons 10% ore from Kirkenes to Ijmuiden at $11,20.
Pacific Panamax business heard that Transgrain fixed the 2004-built 76,704 dwt
Oinoussian Lady for May 25-31 delivery Fangcheng on a trip via Brisbane and
Iraq with redelivery passing Muscat outbound at $11,750 daily.
The charterer of the 1994-built 69,562 dwt Hui Ping was unnamed, but
reportedly took the vessel for May 23-25 delivery east coast Australia on a trip with
redelivery South Korea at $6,500 daily.
Cetragpa took the 2011-built PCL-relet Double Fantasy for May 26-June 04
loading 75,000 tons 10% coal from Indonesia to west coast India at $9,25.
In period business, Quadra has the 2011-built 80,333 dwt Rena for May 29
delivery Surabaya in d/c for 4-6 months trading with redelivery worldwide at
$10,250 daily.
The 2010-built 74,994 dwt Rosco Olive was fixed to Norden for May 24 delivery
Qingdao for 3-6 months trading with redelivery worldwide at $9,000 daily.
CAPESIZE

Another slow day for the Capesize sector in both basins. In the Atlantic, the
key Tubarao/Qingdao route saw business fixed at $20,00 for first-half June
loading. In the East, the west Australia/China route held around $7,80 for
early June loadings. The Baltic Capesize index lost 24 to 1602.
The Atlantic market saw the 2011-built 114,500 dwt Anangel Sun fix with
Cargill for prompt delivery aps Recalada on a trip with redelivery on the Continent at
$9,500 daily plus a $350,000 ballast bonus.
Oldendorff has a TBN for June 01-10 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Tubarao
to Qingdao at $20,00.
The 2012-built Bradi Prassad has gone to SSOE for June 01-015 loading 150,000
tons 10% coal from Richards Bay to Kandla plus options at $11,00.
In the Pacific, Rio Tinto was said to have fixed the 2008-built 180,274 dwt
EDF-relet Sandra for June 05 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Dampier to
Qingdao at $7,80.
HANDY/SUPRAMAX

There was not a lot of concluded business reported for either sector of the
Handy market today. Surprisingly there was still some demand for period
tonnage in the Atlantic, with talk of $18,500 daily having been paid for a supramax
from EC Mexico. A trip out from South Africa via east coast South America was
reported done at $19,000 daily, but additional details were lacking. The
Baltic Supramax index moved up 4 to 1117, while the Handysize index edge up 2 to 646.
From the Atlantic, the 2009-built 58,717 dwt Maritime Emerald was fixed to
Cargill for May 16 delivery retro-Gibraltar on a trip via north Brazil with
redelivery China at $24,000 daily.
It emerged that Noble recently took the 1999-built 45,270 dwt Loreto for
end-May delivery dop Houston on a trip with redelivery Singapore-Japan at $18,500
daily.
An unnamed charterer has the 1989-built 26,970 dwt ID Bulker for May 25-26
delivery aps Recalada on a via north coast South America and redelivery in the
Caribbean at $23,500 daily with optional redelivery west coast South America
at $24,000 daily.
The 1997-built 23,984 dwt Paros was fixed to an unnamed charterer for end-May
delivery Houston on a trip with redelivery Vera Cruz at $12,500 daily.
Pacific Handy business saw Bulk Marine take the 2010-built 32,911 dwt New
Sailing Star for end-May delivery Cebu on a trip via the Philippines with
redelivery east coast India at $11,000 daily.
An unnamed charterer has the 2010-built 31,800 dwt St Gregory for June 05-08
delivery Tauranaga on a trip with redelivery China at $9,600 daily plus a
ballast bonus of $360,000.
The 2012-built 57,000 dwt Ocean Vendor went to an undisclosed charterer for
spot delivery aps Kosichang on a trip with redelivery West Africa at $9,000 daily
for the first 65 days and $10,300 daily for the balance.
The 2009-built 54,279 dwt Marie Paule has fixed with STX Pan Ocean for prompt
delivery South Korea on a trip with redelivery in the Persian Gulf at $8,100
daily.
The charterer of the 2011-built 57,696 dwt Wadi al Bostan was fixed to an
unnamed charterer for end-May delivery aps Indonesia on a trip with redelivery
India at $7,000 daily plus a $70,000 ballast bonus.
Also undisclosed was the charterer of the 2005-built 53,350 dwt Mairouli for
spot delivery Japan for 3-5 months trading with redelivery worldwide at
$10,600 daily.
