PANAMAX

Atlantic business saw activity and rates ease on the lack of activity. There
was some fresh business on offer from east coast South America today and rates
trended sideways after falling for much of the week. A number of vessels were
said to have fixed, but details of the rates agreed were not disclosed.
Modern
tonnage is said to have seen about $16,250 daily plus about $600,000 as a
ballast bonus. Charterers continued to draw tonnage from the East for rate
advantage. Pacific Panamax business fell into the weekend, with plenty of
tonnage and new business scarce. While there remained some interest for
period
tonnage, rates were said to be dropping here too. The Baltic Panamax index
fell 47 to 1083.
Atlantic Panamax business included word of the 2011-built 82,191 dwt Mastro
Nikos fixing to Glencore for June 06-10 delivery aps Santos on a trip with
redelivery Singapore-Japan at $16,750 daily plus a ballast bonus of $675,000.
Cargill was the charterer of the 2011-built 81,000 dwt Prabhu Mohini for June
15-20 delivery east coast South America for a trip with redelivery
Singapore-Japan at $16,000 daily plus a ballast bonus of $600,000 ballast

The 2005-built 76,728 dwt Feakas went to Flame for May 23 delivery retro-Vado
Ligure on a trip via the U.S. Gulf and India with redelivery passing Durban at
$13,000 daily.
For voyage business, Mansel took a TBN for June 10-15 loading 70,000 tons 10%
coal from Newport News to Hereke at $18,50.
Augustea has fixed a Norden TBN for June 10-20 loading 70,000 tons 10% coal
from the Mississippi River to ARA at $18,00.
In the Pacific, the 2005-built 76,508 dwt POS Glory for May 27-30 delivery
Xinsha on a trip via Indonesia with redelivery Japan at $6,750 daily.
For Pacific period business, the 2001-built 75,311 dwt Nirefs was fixed to
Norden for May 30-31 delivery Mizushima for 3-6 months trading with redelivery
worldwide at $8,500 daily.
Voyage business saw Cetragpa take a TBN for June 01-10 loading 75,000 tons 10%
coal from Tabaneo to New Mangalore at $7,25.
CAPESIZE

Capesize business failed to improve as the week came to an end. Fresh inquiry
was limited and there remains a long list of available vessels which has
suppressed rates in both basins. From the Atlantic, a 14-year old vessel will
earn $22,500 daily for a Cont/East run. In the East, modern tonnage agreed
$6,800 daily for a China/Gladstone round. The Baltic Capesize index was off

to 1424.
For Atlantic Capesize business, the 1998-built 172,074 dwt Berge Atlantic has
gone to Tata for June 04-05 delivery Ijmuiden for a trip with redelivery
Singapore/Japan at $22,500 daily.
Anglo American took a TBN for June 13-15 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from
Saldanha Bay to Qingdao at $13,95.
A MOSK TBN was fixed to Libra for June 10-24 loading 150,000 tons 10% coal
from
Richards Bay to Mundra at $10,55.
Rio Tinto was said to have fixed a TBN for June 16/onwards loading 160,000
tons
10% ore from Dampier to Qingdoa at $7,55.
For the Pacific market, NS United has the 2010-built 175,918 dwt Golden Queen
for May 26-30 delivery CJK on a trip via Gladstone with redelivery Japan at
$6,800 daily.
HANDY/SUPRAMAX

Spot/prompt business in the Atlantic held strong into the weekend. A
trans-Atlantic round paid $14,000 daily from west Africa to the Mediterranean
on end-May dates.
Rates may not be able to hold at current levels, with tonnage
reportedly in ballast from the Pacific.
The Baltic Supramax index dropped 6 to 1118, while the Handysize index edged
up
1 to 651.
Out of the Atlantic came word that Noble fixed the 2008-built 56,678 dwt TN
Dawn
for end-May delivery West Africa on a trip via East Coast South America with
redelivery in the Mediterranean at $14,000 daily.
The Pacific saw an unnamed charterer take the 1992-built 43,366 dwt Pacific
Endeavour for spot delivery Singapore on a trip via Indonesia with redelivery
east coast India at $10,625 daily.
Isaphia took the 2008-built 55,518 dwt Anna Elisabeth for end-May delivery aps
Tarakan Island on a trip with redelivery India at $8,000 daily plus a ballast
bonus of $50,000.
The 2005-built 53,608 dwt Novo Mesto was reported fixed to HMM for spot
delivery
passing Busan on a trip via the U.S. West Coast with redelivery India at
$7,000
daily.
