Baltic Panamax index down

PANAMAX
=======

There was not much improvement noted for the Atlantic Panamax sector today, as
holidays in the U.S. and Europe left few traders at their desks.  Rates
trended sideways on the lack of activity.  For the Pacific, there was very little new
business on offer, with rates still easing.  More owners decided to ballast
towards the Atlantic, which will hardly improve things there.  Some interest
remained for period fixtures, with 4-6 months trading said done at $10,000
daily - but this was late last week.  The Baltic  Panamax index fell 34 to 1049.

CAPESIZE
========

Capesize activity was at a virtual standstill today, with holidays in Europe,
the U.S. and the Pacific all limiting activity.  For Atlantic business, a trip
out Tubarao/Qingdao with ore was done at $19,00, and from west Africa to China
at $13,80 - both with June loading.   In the East, west coast Australia/China
business held in the $7,60 range.  The Baltic Capesize index dropped 20 to
1404
today.
