Panamax: U.S. Gulf enjoying firmer numbers

Panamax business in both basins saw little fresh inquiry and rates remained at
very low levels. The U.S. Gulf was still enjoying somewhat firmer numbers on
tighter tonnage availability, though this is unlikely to last with ballasters
on their way.  Rates in the Pacific once again trended sideways, though no upturn
appears imminent.The Baltic Panamax index made a gain of 31 today to 975.

In the Atlantic, Bunge has the 2000-built 74,500 dwt Tycoon for June 15-20
delivery east coast South America on a trip via Iran with redelivery passing
Muscat outbound at $13,750 daily plus a $400,000 ballast bonus.

An undisclosed charterer was said to have taken the 1990-built 71,733 dwt
Newlead Markela for June 13 delivery Ennore on a trip via east coast South
America with redelivery Singapore/Japan at $10,000 daily.

The Pacific basin saw the 2011-built 82,191 dwt Flora fix to Bulk Marine for
June 10-13 delivery Songxia on a trip via east coast Australia with redelivery
India at $9,000 daily.  The business had earlier been incorrectly reported
done at $8,000 daily.

An unnamed charterer took the 1996-built 70,296 dwt Golden Glow for spot
delivery Jakarta on a trip via Indonesia with redelivery China at $9,000
daily.

The 2002-built 75,957 dwt Red Seto has reportedly fixed on subjects with Rio
Tinto for June 16 delivery Ningbo on a trip via Weipa with redelivery China at
$7,100 daily.

The 2008-built 81,702 dwt Medi Salerno was said fixed on subjects to Chubu for
June 17-18 delivery Hong Kong on a trip via Indonesia and redelivery China at
$6,000 daily.

The 2008-built 83,617 dwt Star of RBD will earn $5,250 daily from Panacor for
spot delivery Rizhao on a trip via east coast Australia with redelivery east
coast India at $5,000 daily or optional redelivery west coast India at $5,250
daily.

Ultrabulk was linked with the 1995-built 73,506 dwt V-Rod for spot delivery
Hong Kong on a trip via Indonesia with redelivery India at $5,000 daily.

CAPESIZE
========

In the Atlantic, there were reports of a trans-Atlantic round fixing modern
tonnage at $4,000 daily.  From South Africa, voyage business paid $12,20 for a
trip out. Capesize business suffered in the Pacific today with rates on the
key West Australia/Qingdao route dropping to the high-$6,00 range.  The Baltic
Capesize index was down 9 to 1212.

From the Atlantic, Cargill recently fixed the 2011-built 180,000 dwt Rio
Tinto-relet Prosperous for June 11 delivery Redcar for a trans-Atlantic round
with redelivery UK-Continent range at $4,000 daily.

The 2011-built 208,001 dwt Heng Sheng went to an undisclosed charterer for
June 29th loading 170,000 tons 10% ore from Saldanha Bay to Qingdao at $12,20.

Pacific business saw the the 2003-built 172,316 dwt Mineral Antwerpen was said
fixed to FMG for June 25-29 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Port Hedland to
Taiwan at $7,20.

Rio Tinto has reportedly fixed on subjects an STX TBN for June 30/onwards
loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Dampier to Qingdao at $6,90.

HANDY/SUPRAMAX

Supramax tonnage in the Atlantic continued to see some good numbers.  Spot
business fixed a supramax at $19,000 daily from the Continent for a trip out
via the Baltic and the Cape of Good Hope.  Prompt business paid $14,000 daily for
2-3 laden legs from the Continent with redelivery in the Atlantic.  There was
some demand for period tonnage, with 4-6 months trading done at $15,250 daily.
In the East there was very little concluded business reported, but a supramax
did fix an Indonesia/India run for mid-June dates at $7,000 daily plus a $90,000
bb.Interest in period fixing surfaced, with 3-5 months trading fixing a
supramax for July 01-05 delivery at $10,000 daily.The Baltic Supramax index
added 7 to 1007, as did the Handysize index to 618.

Out of the Atlantic, the 2005-built 52,346 dwt Intrepid has gone to Norden for
end-June delivery in the U.S. Gulf on a trip with redelivery Singapore-Japan
at $28,000 daily.

The charterer of the 2010-built 56,716 dwt ER Nazire was withheld, but took
the vessel for spot delivery dop Amsterdam on a trip via the Baltic and the Cape
of Good Hope with redelivery China at $19,000 daily.
 
The 2008-built 58,787 dwt Nord Reliable has fixed to an unnamed charterer for
prompt delivery on the Continent for a trip with 2-3 laden legs and redelivery
in the Atlantic at $14,000 daily.

Atlantic period business included word that the 2009-built 55,277 dwt An
Yuan has gone to D'Amico for June 08-10 delivery retro-passing Cape Town for 4-6
months trading with redelivery worldwide at $15,250 daily.

Pacific Handy business saw the 2011-built 57,293 dwt Diamond Star go to Noble
for mid-June delivery aps Taboneo on a trip with redelivery India at $7,000
plus a $90,000 ballast bonus.

For period business in the East, Victory Shipping agreed $10,000 daily for the
2009-built 56,780 dwt Mandarin Glory with July 01-05 delivery in the Persian
Gulf for 3-5 months trading with redelivery worldwide.
