More Handy business in both Atlantic & Pacific basins


PANAMAX
=======

There appeared to be a touch more optimism for the Atlantic Panamax market
today, with rates said to be holding on trips out from the Continent and the
Mediterranean. From east coast South America, modern tonnage fixed at $12,500
daily plus a $450,000 bb for mid-June dates.  Charterer's here continued to
draw tonnage from the East.  Trans-Atlantic business was little heard today, so
rates were hard to call.  In the East there was some relief for owners with rates
steadying and numbers moving up somewhat.  Backhaul round business earned
$10,000 daily for modern tonnage  with prompt delivery Paradip. Demand for
period tonnage faded, but 4-6 months trading was heard done at $8,750 daily
for June 23-25 delivery Tianjin.  The Baltic Panamax index added 29 to reach 1004.

Out of the Atlantic, the 2000-built 72,917 dwt Monte Pelmo was fixed to an
unnamed charterer for spot delivery Vado on a trip via the U.S. Gulf with
redelivery Singapore-Japan at $17,000 daily.

Bunge reportedly fixed on subjects the 2004-built 73,600 dwt Edelweiss for
July 01-10 delivery east coast South America on a trip with redelivery
Singapore/Japan at $15,750 daily plus a ballast bonus of $575,000.

The 2000-built 74,716 dwt Tycoon went to the same charterer for June 13-15
delivery east coast South America on a trip via Iran with redelivery passing
Muscat outbound at $13,750 daily plus a $400,000 ballast bonus.

The same charterer was also said to have taken the 2011-bult 81,076 dwt
Archigetis for June 12-14 delivery passing Singapore on a trip via east coast
South America with redelivery Singapore/Japan at $9,650 daily.

Raffles proved to be the charterer of the 2011-built 80,300 dwt Ilia for
June 15-20 delivery passing the Cape of Good Hope on a trip via east coast
South America with redelivery China at $12,500 daily plus a ballast bonus of
$450,000.

Pacific Panamax business linked Louis Dreyfus with the 2009-built 76,402 dwt
Hong Fu for prompt delivery Paradip on a trip via east coast South America
with redelivery Singapore-Japan at $10,000 daily.

The 2000-built 75,933 dwt Tina has gone to Ming Wah Hong Kong for spot
delivery Singapore on a trip via Indonesia with redelivery Singapore/Japan at $10,000
daily.

The 2011-built 81,076 dwt Archigetis has gone to an unnamed charterer for spot
delivery Singapore on a trip via east coast South America with redelivery
Singapore-Japan at $9,750 daily.

It emerged that Cargill recently fixed the 2004-built 73,630 dwt Protefs for
August delivery Singapore-Japan for 24-29 months trading with redelivery
worldwide at $9,000 daily.

Japanese charterer were linked with the 2010-built 82,300 dwt Abeille for June
23-25 delivery Tianjin for 4-6 months trading with redelivery worldwide at
$8,750 daily.

The 2011-built 81,358 dwt Athina L has fixed to NS United for June 14 delivery
Rotterdam for 3-5 months trading with redelivery in the Atlantic at a rate
based on the BPI index.

CAPESIZE
========

Atlantic Capesize business saw no improvement today, with east coast South
America/China business done at $9,60 for July 1-10 loading.  Overall activity
was quiet and concluded business scarce.  Rates in the Pacific basin resumed
their slide today, with Port Hedland/Qingdao business said done at $6,75. The
Baltic Capesize index fell 16 to 1196 today.

Out of the Atlantic, Pacific Bulk was said to have taken a TBN for July 01-10
loading 150,000 tons 10% ore from Esperance to China at $9,60.

From the Pacific, in a correction to an earlier report, the 2012-built
172,942 dwt Emil has gone to Swiss Marine for June 18-20 delivery Zhangjiang for 5-8
months trading with redelivery worldwide at $10,000 daily with no brokerage.

Voyage business in the East saw FMG take the 2010-built 180,242 dwt Mineral
Haiku for June 20-25 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Port Hedland to Qingdao
at $6,95.

HANDY/SUPRAMAX

There was significantly more business talked done for Handy business from both
the Atlantic and Pacific basins today, although a lot of it remained private.
From the U.S. Gulf, steady to firming rates continue to be talked but details
were lacking. A supramax fixed spot business from Ghana at $13,250 daily to
Egypt. Period business paid $15,500 daily for 3-5 months trading from
Cristobal. Pacific Handy business saw a supramax fix with an unnamed
charterer for an Indonesia/WC India trip at $7,750 daily plus a $130,000 bb.  The Baltic
Supramax index added 11 to 1018, while the Handysize index moved up 9 to 627.

The Atlantic handy market heard that the 2009-built 57,950 dwt Ilia reportedly
fixed to an unnamed charterer for spot delivery Tema on a trip via east coast
South America with redelivery Port Said at $13,250 daily.

ABT take the 2011-built 35,000 dwt Seastar Empress for prompt delivery
Barranquilla on a trip with 2 laden legs and redelivery in the Atlantic at
$12,500 daily.

Period business in the Atlantic saw the 2010-built 55,783 dwt E.R. Barcelona
fixed to Noble for prompt delivery Cristobal for 3-5 months trading and
redelivery in the Atlantic at $15,500 daily.

D'Amico has the 2009-built 55,277 dwt An Yuan for June 8 delivery
retro-passing Cape Town for 4-6 months trading with redelivery worldwide at $15,200 daily.

In the Pacific, an unnamed charterer has the 2003-built 53,806 dwt Evnia for
June 18-21 delivery Indonesia for a trip with redelivery west coast India at
$7,750 daily plus a $130,000 ballast bonus.

ISL Dubai was said to be the charterer of the 2012-built 56,558 dwt
D.Centaurus for June 20-24 delivery aps Samarinda on a trip with redelivery east coast
India at $7,000 daily plus a $70,000 ballast bonus.
