Supra tonnage from U.S. Gulf opens week steady

Rates for panamax business trended sideways in the start to the week. Owners
are resisting any further drop in rates and charterers any increases.  There
was fresh inquiry noted for trans-Atlantic runs, but with plenty of tonnage
available, rates are not expected to show any improvement.  Pacific business
opened the week very quietly, with little new business on offer.
Indonesia/Japan business paid $11,000 daily for June 18-22 delivery.  Some
interest was noted for period business, but details were limited.  The Baltic
Panamax index opened the week up 16 to 1081.

Atlantic Panamax business included reports of the 1984-built 69,111 dwt First
Endeavour fixing to Copa Shipping for June 25-30 delivery aps east coast South
America on a trip via the Persian Gulf with redelivery passing Muscat outbound
at $16,000 daily plus a ballast bonus of $600,000.

Flame took the 2010-built 87,337 dwt Mariolina de Carlini late last week for
June 20-25 delivery passing Gibraltar on a trip via the U.S. east coast with
redelivery Skaw-Gibraltar range at $12,000 daily.

The 1998-built 71,332 dwt Fu Le was said fixed to an unnamed charterer for
June 28-July 03 delivery in the U.S. Gulf for a trip with redelivery Skaw-Cape
Passero at $10,500 daily plus a $500,000 ballast bonus.

Cargill agreed $9,750 daily for the 2004-built 76,737 dwt Maritime Anita with
June 17-22 delivery Port Dickson on a trip via east coast South America with
redelivery Singapore-Japan.

The 2001-built 74,350 dwt Evanthia has reportedly gone to Bunge with June
19-20 delivery Balboa for 4-6 months trading with redelivery worldwide at $14,500
daily plus a $500,000 ballast bonus.

For the Pacific basin, the 1999-built 73,744 dwt Helena went to MSK for June
18-22 delivery Surabaya for a trip via Indonesia with redelivery Japan at
$11,000 daily.

The 2011-built 87,000 dwt Annou G.O has fixed with an undisclosed charterer
for spot delivery Singapore on a trip via east coast South America with redelivery
Singapore-Japan at $10,250 daily.

The 2001-built 75,172 dwt Dione went to an unnamed charterer for June 22-28
delivery Mauban on a trip via Indonesia with redelivery Singapore-Japan at
$8,750 daily.

Also undisclosed was the charterer of the 2004-built 77,684 dwt YM Rightness,
taking the vessel for June 18-23 delivery Sual on a trip via Indonesia with
redelivery Singapore-Japan at $70,00 daily.

Ilva has a TBN for July 08-17 loading 60,000 tons 10% coal from Roberts Bank
to Taranto at $18,50.

Sesagoa was linked with the 1989-built Welview for June 15-21 loading 80,000
tons 10% ore from Goa to Jinzhou at $11,00.

CAPESIZE
========

No improvement for the Capesize market as the week got off to a slow start.
The Atlantic basin paid $23,00 for a trip with ore from east coast Canada to China
with late-June/early-July dates.  In the East, the key west Australia/China
run was holding around $6,50 for early July business.  Short period business fixed
late last week paid $9,950 daily for 5-8 months trading. There was talk of
more business fixed today, but details were lacking. The Baltic Capesize index was
off 10 to 1138 today.

Out of the Atlantic, Sinochart reportedly fixed a TBN for June 20-July 01
loading 130,000 tons 10% ore from east coast Canada to China at $23,00.

Kumba has a TBN for July 04-07 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Saldanha Bay
to Qingdao at $12,50.

In the Pacific, period business saw the 2012-built 176,000 dwt C.Phoenix go to
Swiss Marine for June 15-17 delivery Lanshan for 5-8 months trading with
redelivery worldwide at $9,950 daily.

The 1999-built 172,561 dwt CSK Beilun has gone to Rio Tinto for July
03/onwards loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Dampier to Qingdao at $6,50.

HANDY/SUPRAMAX

Supramax tonnage from the U.S. Gulf opened the week steady, according to
sources.  A supramax will earn $18,000 daily for spot business from the U.S.
Gulf. From the Continent, a trip out to China via NC S.America will earn
$22,000 daily.   In the East, an Indonesia/China run will pay $11,000 daily
for a modern handysize with spot dates.  Supramax tonnage fixed an India round via
Richards Bay at $8,000 daily.  Short period business of 3-5 months trading
with spot dates was holding in the low-to-mid-$9,000 daily range.  The Baltic
Supramax index added 23 to 1084 today, while the Handysize index was up 16 to
669.

Atlantic Handy business heard a correction to an earlier report -  STX Pan
Ocean proved to be the charterer of the 2000-built 52,073 dwt Pacbasin-relet Navios
Apollon for spot delivery on the U.S. east coast for a trip via the eastern
Mediterranean and redelivery Cape Passero at $24,000 daily.

Klaveness has the 2005-built 56,052 dwt Ikan Suji for spot delivery Gibraltar
on a trip via the north coast of South America with redelivery China at $22,000
daily.

SG Maritime was said to be the charterer of the 2003-built 53,451 dwt Vivi for
prompt delivery passing Durban on a trip via east coast South America with
redelivery west coast India/PG range at $20,000 daily.

The 2010-built 55,088 dwt Yutai Breeze was said fixed to an undisclosed
charterer for spot delivery in the U.S. Gulf on a trip with 2-3 laden legs and
redelivery in the Atlantic at a good $18,000 daily.

The 1993-built 42,183 dwt Pretty Lady has gone to Clipper for June 17-23
delivery dop Rio Grande on a trip via east coast South America with redelivery
north coast South America at $16,000 daily.

An unnamed charterer has the 2009-built 57,590 dwt Ilia for spot delivery Tema
on a trip via east coast South America with redelivery Skaw-Eastern
Mediterranean at $13,500 daily.

The 1996-built 45,758 dwt Sophia went to an undisclosed charterer for June 14
delivery passing Durban on a trip via east coast South America with redelivery
Skaw-Eastern Mediterranean at $11,750 daily.

Rio Tinto has a TBN for July 01-07 loading 54,000 tons 10% bauxite from
Trombetas to Port Alfred at $19,15.

From the Pacific, the 2011-built 34,372 dwt Thomas C went to an unnamed
charterer for spot delivery Indonesia on a trip with redelivery China at $11,000
daily.

Noble was linked with the 2012-built 57,002 dwt Common Faith for spot delivery
dop Kosichang on a trip via Indonesia with redelivery full India at $10,000
daily.

Cargill took the 2010-built 56,118 dwt Global Phoenix for spot delivery Subic
Bay on a trip with redelivery full India at $10,500 daily.

The 2012-built 56,556 dwt APJ Shirin was fixed to HMM for June 20-25 delivery
Tuticorin on a trip via Richards Bay with redelivery India at $8,000 daily.

The 2009-built 57,000 dwt Shropshire will earn a low $4,000 daily from an
undisclosed charterer for spot delivery Tianjin on a trip with redelivery
southeast Asia.

Period business in the East saw the 2008-built 53,450 dwt Castlegate fix to SK
Shipping for spot delivery Shanghai for 3-5 months trading with redelivery in
the Atlantic or Colombo-Japan range at $9,600 daily.

MUR has the 2008-built 58,791 dwt Florinda for spot delivery China for 3-5
months trading with redelivery worldwide at $9,100 daily.
