Atlantic Panamax business saw little concluded business emerge today, but
sources indicated that market sentiment remained positive and rates were
holding steady. The Pacific basin was more tenuous, with some good numbers reported
and others only fair. The Baltic Panamax index gained 15 to 1160 today.
For Atlantic Panamax business, the 2006-built 74,748 dwt Silver Dragon went to
an undisclosed charterer for July 30-August 05 delivery in the U.S. Gulf on a
trip with redelivery China at $16,750 daily plus a ballast bonus of $675,000.
Norden took the 2004-built 77,834 dwt An Ho for July 29-August 07 delivery aps
Orinoco on a trip with redelivery China at $16,500 daily plus a $650,000
ballast bonus.
An undisclosed charterer took the 2012-built 92,000 dwt Arouzu for July 21
delivery Portbury on a trip with 2 laden legs and redelivery Skaw-Cape Passero
at $12,850 daily.
Pacific Panamax business heard that the 2008-built 82,331 dwt Rosco Polar was
said fixed on subjects to an unnamed charterer for spot delivery Kakogawa on a
NoPac round with redelivery Singapore/Japan at $9,250 daily.
STX Pan Ocean was linked on subjects with the 2004-built 76,800 dwt Rosco
Cyprus for July 15 delivery Caofedian for a trip via the U.S. Gulf with redelivery
Singapore/Japan at $8,000 daily.
The 2012-built 79,000 dwt Peruvian Express went to an unnamed charterer for
July 13-20 delivery aps Indonesia on a trip with redelivery Malaysia at $7,250
daily plus a ballast bonus of $100,000.
In period business, 2004-built 74,823 dwt Darya Shree has gone to an
undisclosed charterer for July 12-14 delivery south China for 4-7 months trading with
redelivery worldwide at $9,250 daily.
CAPESIZE

Atlantic Capesize business stayed quiet today, although rates are still
holding steady. Tubarao/Qingdao business is being reported done in the $18,75-$19,00
range. Out of the East, west Australia/Qingdao business was decidedly
positional. Rates were generally steady at $7.90, but some lower numbers were
noted around $7,70-$7,85. The Baltic Capesize index fell 17 to 1484.
From the Atlantic, SK Seoul was said to be the charterer of the 2012-built
179,000 dwt Frontier Rose for July 9 delivery Redcar on a trip via the U.S.
east coast with redelivery South Korea at $26,250 daily.
The 2010-built 175,835 dwt Golden Shanghai will earn $8,000 daily from Cargill
for July 10-18 delivery passing Skaw westbound for a trip via Narvik with
redelivery Hansaport.
Louis Dreyfus was linked with the 2008-built 178,000 dwt Sivota for end-July
loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Itaguai, CPBS Terminal to Qingdao at $19,00.
Voest Alpine reportedly fixed a TBN for August 01-10 loading 160,000 tons 10%
ore from Saldanha Bay to Rotterdam at $7,00.
Pacific Capesize business included word of Teck Mining fixing a TBN for
end-July/early-August loading 150,000 tons 10% coal from Roberts Bank to
Caofeidian at $11,40.
Vale has a Swissmarine TBN for July 15-25 loading 150,000 tons 10% ore from
Sohar to Qingdao at $10,25.
The 2009-built 175,000 dwt Ocean Lady went to BHP Billiton for July 28-August
02 loading 170,000 tons 10% ore from Port Hedland to Qingdao at $8,00.
Rio Tinto reportedly fixed on subjects the 2004-built 172,000 dwt Bao Zhu Hai
for July 28-August 01 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Dampier to Qingdao at
$7,90.

There was little reported business to provide a direction for the Atlantic
Handy market today, yet despite this sentiment was still positive. A trip out
from South Africa to EC India/Japan reportedly fixed at $19,500 daily for a
supramax with retro-July 5th delivery. For spot/onward business, sources indicated
rates paid $10,500-$12,000 daily for similar trips. The Pacific market had little
concluded business to report today. Spot business reportedly paid $11,500
daily for a China/Philippines round. There was also an unconfirmed report of
Indonesia/EC India business fixing a supramax at $12,500 daily. The Baltic
Supramax index inched up 1 to 1300 today, while the Handysize index lost 5 to
704.
Atlantic Handy business heard that the 2008-built 55,940 dwt Crested Eagle
went to an undisclosed charterer for July 05 delivery retro-Durban for a trip with
redelivery east coast India-Japan range at $19,500 daily.
Island View Shipping has fixed the 2010-built 53,450 dwt Thoresen-relet
Bridgegate for spot delivery aps Maputo on a trip with redelivery on the
Continent at $12,750 daily.
The same charterer was said to have taken the 1996-built 56,800 dwt Cos Bonny
for July 15-20 delivery South Africa on a trip with redelivery in the
Mediterranean at $12,000 daily.
The charterer was also linked with the 2009-built 58,058 dwt Christine B for
spot delivery South Africa on a trip with redelivery Singapore-Japan at
$10,500 daily plus a $350,000 ballast bonus.
For Atlantic period business, the 1996-built 45,402 dwt Spar Sirius has fixed
to STX Pan Ocean for spot delivery Foynes for 3-5 months trading with redelivery
worldwide at $17,000 daily.
Oldendorff took the 2004-built 55,541 dwt Kang Cheng for spot delivery Doula
for 3-5 months trading with redelivery in the Atlantic at $16,750 daily.
Out of the Pacific, the 2007-built 55,496 dwt Jin Xing reportedly fixed to an
unnamed charterer for spot delivery Guangzhou on a trip via the Philippines
with redelivery China at $11,500 daily.
