PANAMAX

Very little new business emerged for the Atlantic Panamax sector today and
pressure mounted on rates despite limited tonnage availability. Activity
slowed from the U.S. Gulf and new business was extremely limited out of east coast
South America. A round trip from the Mediterranean to Cape Passero via Yuzhny
and Hazira paid $20,000 daily for a post-panamax with retro-delivery July
12th.
The situation was much the same in the East, with only a few new orders on
offer and tonnage still ballasting away from the basin. A 20-year old vessel
with spot delivery earned $8,000 daily for a NoPac round. Some small interest
in
period tonnage remained, with 4-7 months trading fixing an LME at $9,000 daily
for August 06-20 delivery. For voyage business, an August 21-25 Chile/China
ore
cargo was fixed at $29,00. The Baltic Panamax index fell 8 to 1206 at
midweek.
>From the Atlantic, the 2011-built 93,115 dwt Doric Champion was said fixed to
Noble for July 12 delivery retro-Piraeus on a trip via Yuzny and Hazira, with
redelivery Cape Passero at $20,000 daily.
An unnamed charterer reportedly took the 2010-built 79,387 dwt Jin Star for
July
25-27 delivery Richards Bay for a trip via east coast South America with
redelivery in the Persian Gulf at $16,000 daily plus a ballast bonus of $600,
000.
In a correction to an earlier report, Cargill fixed the 2009-built 75,500 dwt
Nikolaos for August 11-16 delivery east coast South America for a trip with

laden legs and redelivery Singapore-Japan at $15,200 daily plus a $520,000
ballast bonus.
Yangtze Navigation was linked with the 2011-built 82,012 dwt Wise Young for
August 01-10 delivery east coast South America on a trip with redelivery China
at $15,500 daily plus a $500,000 ballast bonus.
Marubeni took the 2011-built 81,358 dwt NS United-relet Athina L for July
20-25
delivery east coast South America for a trip via Egypt with redelivery Cape
Passero at $10,000 daily plus a $300,000 ballast bonus.
Atlantic voyage business saw the 2008-built Nord Navigator (or sub) fix with
SAIL for August 10-20 loading 75,000 tons 5% coal from Norfolk to east coast
India at $36,50.
In the Pacific, it emerged that Noble recently fixed the 2001-built 75,172 dwt
Dione for prompt delivery Ningbo on a trip via east coast Australia and
redelivery east coast India at $8,750 daily.
Cargill has the 1992-built 69,451 dwt Marina Wave for spot delivery Donghae on
a trip via NoPac with redelivery South Korea at $8,000 daily.
For period business in the East, Gavilon reportedly fixed the 2005-built
74,423
dwt Moon Globe for August 06-10 delivery Qingdao for 4-7 months trading with
redelivery worldwide at $9,000 daily.
Santa Fe Mining took a Swiss Marine TBN for August 21-25 loading 70,000 tons
10% ore from Totoralillo to China at $29,00.
SAIL agreed $18,50 for a Glencore TBN with August 01-10 loading 75,000 tons 5%
coal from Port Kembla to options east coast India (basis fio 35000 shinc/20000
shinc Visakhapatnam option 10000 shinc Paradip option 12000 shinc Haldia
option
25000 shinc Gangavaram).
CAPESIZE
========
Another day of quiet trading for the big ships. From the Atlantic, voyage
business paid $12,75 for Saldanha/Qingdao business with late August loading.
There were reports of tonnage fixed on subjects at $22,50 from Seven Islands
for loading August 05-20. Rates held steady in the East. The key
Dampier/Qingdao rate was steady at $7,00 for reported business, but rumors
circulated that $6,95 has been done. The Baltic Capesize index lost 15 today
to 1286.
Out of the Atlantic, the 2012-built Swiss Marine-relet Pacific Argosy has gone
to Kumba for August 21-25 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Saldanha to
Qingdao
at $12,75.
Vale was the charterer of the 2011-built K Happiness for July 30-August 10
loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Tubarao to Qingdao at $17,80.
>From the Pacific, Rio Tinto fully fixed the 1997-built 175,480 dwt Cape
Jupiter
for August 02-06 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Dampier to Qingdao at
$7,00.
SUPRAMAX/HANDYMAX

Supramax rates in the Atlantic saw some decent numbers again today. A spot
trans-Atlantic run paid $23,750 daily for a USG/Black Sea trip. From east
coast
South America, a supramax fixed at $14,000 daily plus a $400,000 bb to
Skaw-Cape
Passero.For the Pacific, a China/India run via Indonesia was fixed at $9,000
daily for spot business. Also for spot delivery, another supramax earned $8,

daily for China/EC India via Indonesia. The Baltic Supramax index fell 22 to
1239,while the Handysize index was off 8 at 672.
The Atlantic market saw Cargill take the 2011-built 55,625 dwt Hanjin Rostock
for spot delivery in the U.S. Gulf on a trip with redelivery in the Black Sea
at $23,750 daily.
An undisclosed charterer has reportedly fixed on subjects the 2011-built
58,000
dwt Genco Rhone for July 20-25 delivery US Gulf on a trip with redelivery
Turkey at $21,000 daily.
The 2005-built 52,347 dwt Crown Princess has fixed with Suisse Atlantique for
July 25-27 delivery aps Santos on a trip with redelivery Skaw-Cape Passero at
$14,000 daily plus a $400,000 ballast bonus.
The 2010-built 58,608 dwt Thalassini Axia went to an undisclosed charterer for
spot delivery Villanueva on a trip via southeast Asia with redelivery Thailand
at $10,000 daily.
Pacific Handy business included word of the 2011-built 56,793 dwt He Bo fixing
with an undisclosed charterer for spot delivery Zoushan on a trip via
Indonesia
with redelivery India at $9,000 daily.
D'Amico was linked with the 2011-built 58,000 dwt Spar Capella for spot
delivery
Shanghai on a trip via Indonesia with redelivery east coast India at $8,600
daily.
The 1997-built 25,211 dwt Yi Chang Hai was fixed to an unnamed charterer for
prompt delivery Tianjin on a trip with redelivery southeast Asia at $5,500
daily.
