Pressure mounted on rates in the Atlantic again today as the lack of fresh
inquiry begins to bite. Some fixing and failing was noted as rates eased. A
Hamburg/UKC trip via the Baltic paid $8,900 daily for and LME with spot
delivery. The Baltic Panamax index lost 25 to 1109.
For Atlantic Panamax business, the 2012-built 82,250 dwt Kinoura has
reportedly fixed on subjects with Sinoriches for August 22-25 delivery east coast South
America on a trip with redelivery Singapore/Japan at $15,750 daily plus a
$575,000 ballast bonus.
Swiss Marine has the 2012-built 82,265 dwt Twinkle Star for spot delivery
Hamburg on a trip via the Baltic with redelivery UK-Cont range at $8,900
daily.
Eregli Steel took a SAM TBN for August 10-19 loading 70,000 tons 10% coal from
Mobile to Isdemir at $18,48.
Erdemir reportedly fixed a Hanbulk TBN for August 10-19 loading 70,000 tons
10% coal from Norfolk to Isdemir at $14,85.
Out of the Pacific, the 2011-built 92,500 dwt Tonda Sea has reportedly fixed
on subjects to an unnamed charterer for spot delivery Kaohsiun on a trip via
Indonesia with redelivery China at $8,000 daily.
CAPESIZE

From the Atlantic, there were few reports of concluded business
surfacing. A Hunterston/Skaw-Cape Passero run paid $4,400 daily for
modern tonnage. Voyage business paid $30,50 for a Baltimire-
Newport/Dangjin cargo. There was only limited new business on the key
West Australia/China runs today. There was talk of business done under
$7,00 for August 07-10 loading. In addition, vessels were said fixed for
Indonesia/China cargoes, but details of the rates paid were lacking.
Period business of 4-6 months trading held steady around $10,000 daily
according to sources. The Baltic Capesize index was down another 14 to
1261 today.
In the Atlantic, the 2008-built 177,894 dwt Tampa has gone to Swiss Marine for
spot delivery Hunterston on a trans-Atlantic round with redelivery Skaw-Cape
Passero at just $4,400 daily.
Cosbulk has fixed a TBN for August 07-14 loading 110,000 tons 10% coal from
Baltimore and Newport to Dangjin at $30.50.
Arcelor Mittal will pay $11,00 for a TBN with August 01-10 loading 107,000
tons 10 coal from Norfolk to Dunkirk.
Pacific Capesize business heard that Grand China fixed a TBN for August 15-21
loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Dampier to Qingdao at $6,90.

There was not much business fixed in the Atlantic sector today. The lack
of activity left the market hard to call, with rates drifting. In the
East, Indonesia/WC India business fixed modern tonnage at $8,500 daily
plus a $155, 000 bb. Short period business of 2-4 months trading was done
at $14,250 daily, while a period of about 1-years trading earned $10,350
daily for end-July delivery. The Baltic Supramax index fell 19 to 1173,
while the Handysize index was off 10 to 647.
The Pacific basin saw Sivabulk take the 2004-built 52,454 dwt Patriot for July
31-August 05 delivery aps Indonesia on a trip with redelivery west coast India
at $85,00 daily plus a $155,000 ballast bonus.
It emerged that the newbuilding 58,000 dwt Astra Centauras was fixed with
Norden late last week for spot delivery China on a trip via NoPac with
redelivery China at $9,200 daily.
Norden has the 2009-built 57,334 dwt Navios Soleil for spot delivery in the
Baltic for 2-4 months trading with redelivery in the Atlantic at $14,250
daily.
The 2010-built 58,110 dwt Ten Yu Maru was fixed to Western Bulk Carriers for
end-July delivery China for 12-months trading and redelivery worldwide at
$10,350 daily.
