Overall the Panamax market trended sideways/down again on the lack of
fresh inquiry and over-abundant tonnage. In the Atlantic, an LME fixed
ECSA/Continent business at $8,000 daily plus a $200,000 bb. From West
Africa to Fos, modern tonnage will earn $6,000 daily plus a $200,000 bb.
For Pacific business the news was gloomy. Rates eased further today and
owners have been discouraged from ballasting away by the decline in the
Atlantic. For Esperance/NE Asia business, an owner agreed $9,000 daily
plus a $200,000 bb for mid-August delivery. A Japan/Australia round paid
$7,750 daily for an LME on similar dates. The Baltic Panamax index lost
22 to end at 868 today.
The Atlantic Panamax market saw the 2012-built 93,763 dwt Leading Glory fix to
Windrose for August 22-27 delivery east coast South America on a trip with
redelivery on the Continent at $8,000 daily plus a $200,000 ballast bonus.
Norden reportedly fixed the 2001-built 74,710 dwt Primrose late last week for
August 16-20 delivery aps Kamsar on a trip with redelivery Fos at $6,000 daily
plus a $200,000 ballast bonus.
In voyage business, SAIL fixed a TBN for September 01-10 loading 75,000 tons

coal from Newport News to east coast India at $34,45 basis 1 to 1.
Pacific Panamax business saw the 2009-built 80,372 dwt Lucky Sunday fix to
Oldendorff for August 17-24 delivery east coast South America on a trip with
redelivery Singapore/Japan at $13,750 daily plus a ballast bonus of $375,000.
An undisclosed charterer took the 2012-built 82,000 dwt Yangtze Xing Hua for
spot delivery Haldia on a trip via east coast South America and Iran with
redelivery passing Muscat outbound at $9,500 daily.
Also unnamed was the charterer of the 2012-built 61,418 dwt Tokyo Bulker,
taking the vessel for August 15-18 delivery Esperance on a trip with
redelivery NE Asia at $9,000 daily plus a $200,000 ballast bonus.
The 2009-bult 78,802 dwt Lake Dahlia will earn $7,750 daily from MOL for
August 07-18 delivery Higashi Harima on a trip via Australia with redelivery Japan.
The 2010-built 95,712 dwt Maritime Century has reportedly gone to K-Line for
August 10-15 delivery Indonesia on a trip with redelivery Japan at $6,500
daily plus a ballast bonus of $85,000.
PWSL was said to be the charterer of the 1995-built 71,695 dwt Mighty Michalis
for August 12-15 delivery ex-drydock CJK on a trip with redelivery India at
$6,000 daily.
CAPESIZE

For Atlantic Capesize business there was once again little to report.
Charterers continue to have their choice of vessels and rates are still under
pressure. In the Pacific, rates on the key West Australia/Chine run continued
to make some gains today, although there were some disagreement as to just how
high rates have moved. Reported business included a Port Hedland/Qingdao
cargo for August 22-25 loading at a firmer $7,10 - although the ship was not
identified. The Baltic Capesize index managed a gain of 23 to 1237.
Out of the Pacific came word that FMG fixed a TBN with August 22-25 loading
160,000 tons 10% ore from Port Hedland to Qingdao at a better $7,10.
The charterer was also said to have another TBN for August 19-22 loading the
same cargo on the same route at $6,75.
Sinochart was linked with the 2011-built Pacific Bulk-relet Aquafortune for
August 22-29 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from West Australia to China at
$7,00.
BHP Billiton was in the market to take a TBN for August 18-22 loading 170,000
tons 10% ore from Dampier to Qingdao at $6,95.
The 2011-built CTC-relet Navios Koyo has also gone to BHP Billiton for August
20-25 loading the same cargo from Port Hedland to Qingdao at the same rate.
In period business, Swiss Marine fixed the 2009-built 179,185 dwt C.Blossom
for spot delivery Qingdao for 5-8 months trading and redelivery worldwide at
$9,250 daily.
HANDY/SUPRAMAX

Handy business also saw easing rates today, with only limited fresh inquiry
heard in either market. For the Atlantic, a trans-Atlantic run has reportedly
seen $15,500 daily from Colombia to the UK-Continent region. In the East,
spot business paid a lower $6,500 daily for a supramax passing CJK via Indonesia to
India. Period business of about 1-years trading has fixed at an easier $9,500
daily. The Baltic Supramax index fell 16 to 966, while the Handysize index
was off 8 to 544.
The Atlantic market heard that D'Amico took the 2011-built 61,700 dwt Sunleaf
Grace for August 11-17 delivery on Colombia's Atlantic coast for a trip with
redelivery UK-Continent range at $15,500 daily.
Oldendorff has the 2001-built 48,377 dwt Marylebone for spot delivery in the
U.S. Gulf on a trip with redelivery Turkey at $14,000 daily.
The 2005-built 52,249 dwt Sabrina 1 will earn $6,000 daily from Refined
Success for spot delivery West Africa on a trip with redelivery in the Black Sea.
Out of the Pacific came word of Isaphia taking the 2011-built 57,144 dwt
Vishva Nidhi for spot delivery passing CJK on a trip via Indonesia with
redelivery full India at $6,500 daily.
In Pacific period business, the 2009-built 55,700 dwt Father Neptune has
gone to Meadway Shipping for August 07-15 delivery Zhanjiang for 1-years
trading with redelivery worldwide at $9,500 daily.
