Atlantic Panamax business struggles in approach to weekend

Atlantic Panamax business struggled in the approach to the weekend.
Demand for trans-Atlantic business was lacking and tonnage is building in
all areas of the market. Rates eased from the U.S. Gulf and East Coast
South America. A trip out from east coast South America has reportedly
paid $15,700 daily plus a $575,000 bb. For the Pacific basin, Singapore's
holiday has pressured rates further and there was little fresh inquiry
heard in the market. Rates were positional or easing depending on the
business. Port Hedland/China business paid an easier $7,000 daily plus a
$180,000 bb. The Baltic Panamax index fell 17 to 823.

Atlantic Panamax business included word of the 2011-built 95,790 dwt Maritime
King fixing to SVS for August 12-17 delivery Hamburg on a trip via Tees with
redelivery Thailand at $18,250 daily.

Oldendorff agreed $15,750 daily plus a $575,000 ballast bonus for the
2011-built 82,153 dwt Rosco Palm for September 01-05 delivery in the U.S.
Gulf on a trip with redelivery Singapore-Japan.

Chinese charterers have reportedly taken the 2003-built 74,380 dwt
Aspendos for September 06-08 delivery aps east coast South America for a
trip with redelivery Singapore-Japan at $14,000 daily plus a $400,000
ballast bonus.

The 2010-built 93,296 dwt Elvia was reported to Samsun for August 20-27
delivery on the U.S. east coast for a trip via the Mediterranean and
redelivery Cape Passero at $9,000 daily plus a $285,000 ballast bonus.

The 2005-built 87,052 dwt Alam Permai has fixed with Yangtze Navigation for
August 16-21 delivery Richards Bay on a trip with redelivery Malaysia at
$8,250 daily plus a $300,000 ballast bonus.

Transatlantica was said to be the charterer of the 1994-built 70,087 dwt
Wadi Al Arish for spot delivery Tarragona on a trip via the Black Sea
with redelivery Continent-Mediterranean range at about $5,500 daily.

Pacific Panamax business heard that Sinochart took the 1999-built 74,545 dwt
Alpha Flame for August 23-31 delivery aps NoPac on a trip with redelivery
Singapore-Japan at $7,500 daily plus a $320,000 ballast bonus.

The charterer was also said to have the 2010-built 93,039 dwt
Perseveranza-relet David Schulte for August 20-25 delivery Port Hedland
on a trip with redelivery China at $7,000 daily plus a ballast bonus of
$180,000.

An undisclosed charterer fixed the 2002-built 75,688 dwt Pina Cafiero for
prompt delivery aps Indonesia on a trip with redelivery South Korea at
$7,000 daily plus a $120,000 ballast bonus.

Practica was linked with the 1995-built 69,952 dwt Deng Zhou Hai for
August 15-25 delivery aps Kamsar for a trip with 2-3 laden legs, first
leg Kamsar/Point Comfort, with redelivery Skaw-Cape Passero at $6,000
daily plus a $130,000 ballast bonus.

SinoEast agreed $5,000 daily plus a $300,000 ballast bonus for the 2012-built
92,779 dwt POS Tuerkis for August 23-27 delivery east coast Australia on a
trip with redelivery China.

The 2012-built Conti Jade has gone to BHP Billiton for August 20-25 loading
75,000 tons 10% coal from Hay Point to Mundra at $14,80.

The 2002-built Xin Shun went to an unnamed charterer for August 13-15 loading
70,000 tons 10% coal from Indonesia to Mundra at $9,50.

CAPESIZE
========

In the Atlantic, the key Tubarao/Qingdao route saw a good $18,75 paid for
a forward cargo with October 01-20 loading. Otherwise, near business
continued to see easier numbers. Trans-Atlantic business paid $8,000
daily plus a $175,000 bb for a Santos/Continent run. Holidays in the East
kept a lid on activity there and rates eased again. Voyage business paid
$8,25 for an ore cargo from Sohar to Qingdao. The Baltic Capesize index
was off 12 at 1192.

From the Atlantic, the 2009-built 180,132 dwt Dione was reported fixed to
Oldendorff for August 15-20 delivery Rotterdam on a trip via Trinidad and the
Persian Gulf, with redelivery Cape Passero at $10,000 daily.

Cargill was linked with the 2010-built 114,681 dwt Norden-relet Orient
Crusader for August 20-25 delivery Santos on a trip with redelivery on the Continent at
$8,000 daily plus a $175,000 ballast bonus.

In voyage business, Oldendorff has the 2011-built Tom Selmer for October 01-20
loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Tubarao to Qingdao at $18,75.

Kumba has a TBN for August 26-28 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore from Saldanha to
Qingdao at $12,60.

The 1996-built Jag Arjun will earn $12,50 from Kumba for August 27-30 loading
160,000 tons 10% ore from Saldanha to Qingdao.

The charterer also fixed a TBN for August 26-28 loading 160,000 tons 10% ore
on the same route at $12,60.

Out of the Pacific, Vale was the charterer of the 1993-built Glory Comfort for
August 17-26 loading 150,000 tons 10% ore from Sohar to Qingdao at $8,25.

HANDY/SUPRAMAX

Another day of easing rates for the Atlantic Handy sector.  From the U.S.
Gulf prompt business fixed a supramax for a trip to NW France at $9,500 daily.
Handysize tonnage is reportedly seeing easier numbers, but details were
lacking.  In the East, SE India/India business via Indonesia paid a supramax a
low $6,250 daily for spot business.  The Baltic Supramax index fell 40 to 906
while the Handysize index inched down 3 to 535.

In the Atlantic, the 2008-built 58,780 dwt Kastro has gone to SAM for August
13-18 delivery on the Continent for a trip with redelivery in the eastern
Mediterranean at $17,500 daily.

The 2010-built 56,868 dwt Emerald has fixed with Oldendorff for August 12-18
delivery Santos on a trip with redelivery West Africa at $10,000 daily.

Noble was the charterer of the 2010-built 55,783 dwt E.R.Brighton for prompt
delivery in the U.S. Gulf on a trip with redelivery NW France at $9,500 daily.

The 2010-built 57,809 dwt Grebe Bulker has fixed to Greig Star for spot
delivery South Africa on a trip with redelivery West Africa at $6,000
daily.

Arcelor Mittal has taken a TBN for August 20-29 loading 57,000 tons 10%
ore from Aratu to Gijon at $15,00.

The Pacific market saw the 2011-built 57,981 dwt Spar Capella fix to ISL
Dubai for spot delivery dop Tuticorin on a trip via Indonesia with
redelivery India at $6,250 daily.
