Maran Tankers linked to SAMCO ASIA acquisition


Broker reports suggest Maran Tankers has acquired tanker vessel SAMCO ASIA (dwt 305000 blt 2003 S.Korea) for USD 35.5 million.

Reports also suggest a Greek player is behind the purchase of tanker vessel ST.PAULI (dwt 47149 blt 2003 Japan) for a reported USD 14 million.

In the bulker segment, Greeks have moved for bulker HONESTY OCEAN (dwt 47240 blt 1997 Japan) for a reported USD 8.25 million.

Aframax freight rates for loadings in the Baltic Sea have risen sharply on the back of heavy charterer inquiry for loadings in the second decade of February, as well as a good flow of Urals from Primorsk and Ust-Luga to the Mediterranean Sea, shipping and trading sources have said.
Capital Product Partners L.P. (NASDAQ: CPLP) (the 'Partnership'), an international diversified shipping company, announced the successful acquisition of the M/T ‘Active’ and new time charter employment for the M/T ‘Militiadis M II’ and M/T ‘Avax’ at increased day rates.

DryShips announced that it has entered into firm sales agreements with entities controlled by the Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, George Economou, to sell its four Suezmax tankers, Vilamoura, Lipari, Petalidi and Bordeira, for an en-bloc sales price of $245 million. In addition, it has entered into agreements with entities controlled by Mr. Economou to potentially sell its six Aframax tankers, Belmar, Calida, Alicante, Mareta, Saga and Daytona.
Greek shipowner Diamantis Diamantidis has swapped yards for his latest suezmax newbuilding order. Delta Tankers is understood to have gone to Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) to sign a contract for two tankers.
