Maran Tankers linked to SAMCO ASIA acquisition


Broker reports suggest Maran Tankers has acquired tanker vessel SAMCO ASIA (dwt 305000 blt 2003 S.Korea) for USD 35.5 million.

Reports also suggest a Greek player is behind the purchase of tanker vessel ST.PAULI (dwt 47149 blt 2003 Japan) for a reported USD 14 million.

In the bulker segment, Greeks have moved for bulker HONESTY OCEAN (dwt 47240 blt 1997 Japan) for a reported USD 8.25 million.

Iraq scrambled to gain control of a cargo of Kurdish oil worth $100 million off the Texas coast on Tuesday after a U.S. judge ordered its seizure in a bid by Baghdad to halt oil sales by the autonomous region of Kurdistan.
A tanker carrying crude oil from Iraqi Kurdistan was cleared by the U.S. Coast Guard to unload its cargo at sea off Texas on Sunday as a State Department official signaled Washington would not intervene to block delivery of the controversial crude.
Delta Air Lines Inc’s refining unit has chartered a U.S.-flagged oil tanker for the first time, allowing it to tap directly into cheap Texas shale oil as the company overhauls its supply strategy.
Rates for very large crude carriers (VLCCs) on key Asian freight routes could hold steady or gain next week as charterers seek to complete their vessel chartering programme for the first 20 days of August, brokers said on Friday.
