Maran Tankers linked to SAMCO ASIA acquisition


Broker reports suggest Maran Tankers has acquired tanker vessel SAMCO ASIA (dwt 305000 blt 2003 S.Korea) for USD 35.5 million.

Reports also suggest a Greek player is behind the purchase of tanker vessel ST.PAULI (dwt 47149 blt 2003 Japan) for a reported USD 14 million.

In the bulker segment, Greeks have moved for bulker HONESTY OCEAN (dwt 47240 blt 1997 Japan) for a reported USD 8.25 million.

Genmar has signed a preliminary agreement for the $1.4bn takeover of Navig8’s VLCC fleet. The merger - expected to close early in 2015 - will see Genmar take Navig8's 14 strong newbuilding programme and the executive team of chairman Georgiopoulos, chief executive officer John Tavlarios and chief financial officer Leonidas Vrondissis remaining intact.

Teekay Tankers Ltd. announced that it has agreed to acquire four coated Aframax tankers and one uncoated Aframax tanker for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $230 million.

Navios Acquisition, an owner and operator of tanker vessels, announced that the Nave Pyxis and the Nave Sextans have been chartered out to a high quality counterparty for three years at a rate of $16,294 net per day. The vessels are expected to generate approximately $7.0 million of annual EBITDA (approximately $20.9 million of aggregate EBITDA for the charter period in total) assuming operating expense approximating current operating costs and 360 revenue days per year.
