Maran Tankers linked to SAMCO ASIA acquisition


Broker reports suggest Maran Tankers has acquired tanker vessel SAMCO ASIA (dwt 305000 blt 2003 S.Korea) for USD 35.5 million.

Reports also suggest a Greek player is behind the purchase of tanker vessel ST.PAULI (dwt 47149 blt 2003 Japan) for a reported USD 14 million.

In the bulker segment, Greeks have moved for bulker HONESTY OCEAN (dwt 47240 blt 1997 Japan) for a reported USD 8.25 million.

NAT has outlined to its shareholders how the recent drop in oil prices is good news for its business. Increased oil demand is the most significant impact of a lower oil price, according to the suezmax owner, but the reduced cost of fuel for its fleet also has a positive impact on its bottom line.
OPEC heavyweight Saudi Arabia’s crude oil exports edged up in September by around 59,000 barrels per day (bpd) while volumes used by domestic refineries remained high, official data showed.
A tanker carrying Algerian light oil arrived at the Venezuelan port of Jose late on Monday and is waiting to unload up to 2 million barrels in PDVSA’s second crude purchase from state-run Sonatrach, according to Reuters vessel-tracking data.
The cost of sending 80,000 mt crude oil cargoes from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean has reached close to a 10-month high on the back of a restricted tonnage list resulting from increased delays in the Turkish straits, shipping sources said Tuesday.
