HP - COSCO - Trainose deal sealed today; great significance for Piraeus Port

An agreement between Hewlett-Packard, Cosco and Trainose to use Cosco΄s cargo terminal at the port of Piraeus as a hub and Traiose΄s adjacent rail infrastructure to distribute the American electronics giant΄s products in central Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, the eastern Mediterranean and eastern Europe was signed today.

Australia Newcastle port's coal shipments pick up in spite of coastal sea swells Exports of thermal and coking coal from Newcastle port in eastern Australia recovered to 2.17 million mt in the seven-day  period ended Monday, a rise of 19% on 1.82 million mt shipped in the week ended February 18, said Newcastle Port Corp. in its latest coal exports report released Wednesday. 28/2/2013
CLSA Mauritius sells stake in Essar Ports, Essar Shipping Foreign fund house CLSA Mauritius Ltd today sold shares in two firms — Essar Ports and Essar Shipping — in deals worth over Rs 33 crore.
The shares were sold through open market transactions on the stock exchanges.

APM Terminals to operate major Turkish port APM Terminals and Turkey-based Petkim have entered into a final agreement to create and operate Aegean Gateway Terminal (AGT). AGT will be one of Turkey’s largest container and general cargo terminals and will be entirely operated by APM Terminals under a concession agreement with operations expected to start in summer 2015. 25/2/2013

New £1.5bn London Gateway port a 'game changer'
A new £1.5bn container port in Essex will be a "game changer" by providing quicker access to south east England, the company behind the project says. DP World, which is building London Gateway in Thurrock, says an adjacent warehouse will allow prompt dispatch to destinations, including London.
