Ultrabulk expanding long term fleet by another 5 units
In addition to the announcement covering three newbuilding units made by Ultrabulk on March 19th, Ultrabulk now confirms having added five further units to its long term fleet.The new units are one additional 61,000tdw Supramax bulker to be built at a Japanese yardand scheduled for delivery 2016, joined by another 81,000tdw Kamsarmax bulker for delivery in 2015.

COSCO Dalian to Build LNG Vessel for Chinese Owner
The Board of Directors of COSCO Corporation (Singapore) Limited today announced that COSCO (Dalian) Shipyard Co . Ltd., a subsidiary of the Company’s 51% owned subsidiary, COSCO Shipyard Group Co. Ltd., has secured a contract valued over RMB500 million (approx $81.5 Mln) from a Chinese ship owner to build one 28,000 CBM LNG Vessel.

Laskaridis orders 10 new bulkers at Penglai Zhongbai
Greek owner Laskaridis Shipping has ordered four 64,000dwt bulkers and 2 (+2) kamsarmax bulkers at Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu Ship Industry. Prior to these orders, Laskaridis exercised existing options for two 64,000dwt bulkers and signed a resale contract with Penglai Zhongbai for two panamax bulkers.

Greek owners to buy 142 ships from China - Shipping Minister
Hellenic Shipping Minister Kostis Moussouroulis said Greek shipowners have recently signed contracts to buy 142 new ships from Chinese shipbuilding companies. The orders, which were signed in April, accounted for more than 60 percent of the recent global orders of Greek shipowners, said the Greek official.

Navarone places newbuilding order at Yangfan

In the bulk carrier segment this week, Navarone SA is said to have signed an order for the construction of two 36,000dwt vessels at China’s Yangfan Shipyard for delivery in 2014 at an undisclosed contract price, according to Golden Destiny.

d’Amico exercises options for two more ‘Eco Design’ ships
d’Amico Tankers Limited exercised its purchase options, as earlier disclosed last 12 of March, and entered into contracts for the construction of two additional new product/chemical tanker vessels with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. Ltd. – Korea, expected to be delivered in H2 2015, for a consideration of less than US$ 30.0 million each.
