ONE: New service links Oakland to the Middle East

Japan’s ONE line will operate a new weekly service linking the US’ Port of Oakland to Asia and the Middle East.

The new route will be serviced by 18 megaships, each with the capacity to carry 14,000 TEUs.

Port of Oakland maritime director, John Driscoll, said the ships are among the largest container vessels calling at US ports.

The service, dubbed Far East-Pacific 2, reaches nine ports in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Saudi Arabia and the US.
