Evergreen Marine has confirmed an order for fourteen 14,000-TEU LNG-fueled containerships, at a cost of approximately $3 billion.
The vessels will be built by South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries and China’s Guangzhou Shipyard International, with the two company’s constructing 7 vessels each.
Each ship will cost between $175 million and $205 million.
The deals were approved at an Evergreen Marine (Asia) board of directors meeting Wednesday, the carrier said in a relevant filing to the Taiwan stock exchange.
