International consulting engineering company Haskoning announced the acquisition of Portwise, a world-leading consultancy active in planning and simulation of ports and terminals. Portwise is headquartered in the Netherlands and operates globally.

Portwise adds extensive consultancy knowledge and state-of-the-art simulation capabilities that support clients in optimising their terminal operations through automation and electrification, which require profound and in-depth analysis. Combined with Haskoning’s multidisciplinary planning, design and engineering expertise, the acquisition creates a fully integrated service offering for ports and terminals, allowing for decision support over the assets’ lifecycle.

The companies’ complementary global footprints ensure global expertise with a strong understanding of local markets.

Haskoning CEO Marije Hulshof said: “Digitalisation, shifting trade patterns and sustainability requirements for ports and terminals are increasing the need for advanced simulation and data-driven decision-making. By joining forces with Portwise and welcoming their talented team into Haskoning, we strengthen our collective ability to help ports worldwide become smarter, more efficient and more sustainable.”

Portwise Managing Director Yvo Saanen said: “Becoming part of Haskoning enables us to scale our impact and broaden the value we deliver to clients. Much like Haskoning, we are mission-driven and help transform logistics to become future- and planet-proof. By combining our deep technical expertise, with operational and financial insights, we are strongly positioned to lead this transformation and support sustainable growth across the sector.”
