In one of the most striking deals in the dry bulk market, Haris Vafias has secured the chartering of three capesize vessels from the fleet of Brave Maritime at rates exceeding 30,000 dollars per day for a two-year period.

The vessels—Cape Evoluzione, Cape Good Hope and Cape Horn—are approximately 15 years old, with charter rates ranging between 31,000-32,000 dollars per day. According to shipbrokers, these levels represent a decade-high for comparable durations.

The agreement comes at a time of heightened uncertainty in the freight market, as tensions in the Middle East continue to impact trade flows and fuel costs.

The vessels are expected to be primarily deployed in the transportation of iron ore between Australia and China.

Haris Vafias controls a fleet of 40 bulk carriers, including 10 capesize vessels.
