The close shipping ties between Greece and Japan were highlighted at a meeting at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) between Japanese Ambassador Koichi Ito, Taro Kono, chairman of the Japan-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group, and M/MARITIME founder Yiannis Mytilineos.
The Japanese ambassador described M/MARITIME as an important partner of Japan’s shipping industry, while Taro Kono highlighted the two countries’ shared identity as maritime nations.
Yiannis Mytilineos referred to his long-standing relationships with Japanese shipyards. M/MARITIME currently operates a fleet of 18 bulk carriers, while it recently entered the containership sector with an order for two 2,800-TEU feeder vessels from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, with deliveries scheduled to begin in early 2028, strategically broadening its operations.
At the same time, M/MARITIME has agreed long-term time charters for three newbuild bulk carriers, with deliveries scheduled for 2029-2030.
