Seatrium has secured a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) conversion contract with an option for a second contract from US-based Excelerate Energy, Inc.
The company said in a statement on 8 October that the award marks its first engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning FSRU conversion project for the Texan company.
Under the contract, Seatrium’s scope covers regasification facilities, liquefied natural gas (LNG) transfer and cargo handling systems, utility and offloading systems, electrical and automation systems, and marine modifications.
The work also includes associated infrastructure needed to convert the LNG carrier into a fully operational FSRU.
Engineering activities are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026, with delivery targeted for 2028.
Upon completion, the vessel will have 170,000 cubic metres of LNG storage capacity, tri-fuel diesel electric power generation, and reliquefaction technology.
“The vessel will become the 13th FSRU in our fleet and will expand the reach and capabilities of our LNG infrastructure platform,” said David Liner, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Excelerate Energy.
