According to TradeWinds, Akrotiri Tankers has ordered its first newbuildings ever.
Specifically, the shipping company has reportedly ordered a pair of LR1 units at New Century Shipbuilding in China, market sources told TradeWinds.
The choice of LR1 is strategic, as the company has already acquired three petroleum product carriers from the secondary market, with a total value of about 80 million dollars.
With the newbuildings expected to be delivered in 2028–2029, the Akrotiri Tankers fleet is set to grow to five product tankers.
