Cruise giant Carnival kicked off a major expansion in Tampa on Saturday with the deployment of a second vessel to the city.
Carnival’s 2,124-passenger Carnival Miracle joined the line’s 2,052-passenger Carnival Paradise in sailing year-round out of Tampa.
Miracle mostly will operate seven-night Caribbean sailings out of Tampa that feature stops in the Cayman Islands, Mexico, Honduras and Belize. In addition, the ship will offer a handful of six- and eight-night sailings to the Western Caribbean. Some of the eight-night sailings will include a visit to the Panama Canal.
Carnival Paradise sails four- to eight-day Caribbean cruises from Tampa, including recently added voyages to Cuba.
Carnival is the only cruise company offering sailings year-round from Tampa.
With the two ships, Carnival expects to carry a record 280,000 passengers a year from Tampa.
