HD Hyundai achieves record 6 trillion won profit

HD Hyundai, led by Chairman Chung Ki-sun, has opened the era of 6 trillion won (approximately $4.1 billion) in operating profit. Compared to approximately 2 trillion won recorded in 2023, the company achieved approximately threefold growth in just two years. There are also assessments that the company posted an earnings surprise, surpassing the approximately 5 trillion won level of operating profit that the securities industry had projected.

HD Hyundai disclosed on Feb. 12 that it recorded revenue of 71.2594 trillion won and operating profit of 6.0996 trillion won on a consolidated basis for 2025. Compared to the previous year, revenue increased by 5.2% and operating profit increased by 104.5%. While profitability expansion in the shipbuilding and offshore segment drove performance growth, balanced growth was observed across major affiliates including power equipment.

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering in the shipbuilding and offshore segment recorded revenue of 29.9332 trillion won, an increase of 17.2% year-on-year, and operating profit of 3.9045 trillion won, an increase of 172.3% year-on-year, contributing to performance improvement through an expanded proportion of high-priced vessels and increased construction volume via production efficiency enhancements.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, a subsidiary of HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, recorded revenue of 17.5806 trillion won and operating profit of 2.0375 trillion won. HD Hyundai Samho recorded revenue of 8.0714 trillion won and operating profit of 1.3628 trillion won. All affiliates in the shipbuilding and offshore segment are analyzed to have achieved strong performance.

HD Hyundai Marine Solution recorded revenue of 1.9827 trillion won, an increase of 13.6% year-on-year, and operating profit of 350.1 billion won, an increase of 28.9% year-on-year, based on increased revenue from its mainstay ship parts service business (AM) and solid growth in the digital solutions business.

HD Hyundai Marine Engine, a ship engine affiliate, recorded revenue of 402.4 billion won and operating profit of 75.9 billion won due to increased ship engine volume and growth in parts business revenue. HD Hyundai Energy Solutions, a solar affiliate, recorded revenue of 492.7 billion won and operating profit of 41.2 billion won driven by increased global sales volume and price recovery.

HD Hyundai Site Solution in the construction equipment segment recorded revenue of 8.2367 trillion won and operating profit of 467.4 billion won, increases of 6.0% and 8.1% year-on-year respectively, due to expanded sales in emerging markets such as Latin America and Africa as well as advanced markets such as North America and Europe, and expanded engine demand for generators and defense applications. HD Hyundai Site Solution plans to diversify revenue sources into high-growth-potential businesses including AM, engines, and compact equipment based on integration synergies and regional sales strategies.

HD Hyundai Oilbank in the energy segment recorded revenue of 28.0249 trillion won, a decrease of 8% year-on-year. Operating profit reached 474 billion won, an increase of 83.7% year-on-year, due to improved refining margins. HD Hyundai Oilbank plans to proactively respond to external variables such as global refinery market supply chain reorganization through crude oil sourcing diversification and process optimization.

HD Hyundai Electric in the power equipment segment recorded revenue of 4.0795 trillion won, an increase of 22.8% year-on-year, and operating profit of 995.3 billion won, an increase of 48.8%, driven by power equipment sales growth centered on overseas markets, AI industry expansion, and increased investment in high-power infrastructure such as data centers. HD Hyundai Electric will continue its selective order strategy focused on high-value-added projects. The company plans to strengthen its eco-friendly and high-efficiency product lineup to expand market share in global markets including Europe.
