HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (009540.KS), the shipbuilding holding company of HD Hyundai (267250.KS), announced Wednesday that it has secured an order for one large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier from Angolan shipping company Sonangol Shipping. The contract is valued at 357.5 billion won ($245 million). The LNG carrier will be built at HD Hyundai Samho and is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2028.
Including this latest contract, HD Korea Shipbuilding has secured orders for 12 vessels worth $1.93 billion so far this year. This represents 8.3% of the company’s annual order target of $23.31 billion. The orders consist of five LNG carriers, three liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, two crude oil tankers, and two product carriers.
