HD KSOE wins $256 mn order for two VLCCs from HMM

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co. (HD KSOE), the intermediate holding company of HD Hyundai’s shipbuilding division, said Monday it has signed a contract with HMM Co. to build two very large crude carriers (VLCCs) worth a total of 363.3 billion won ($256 million).

The two VLCCs will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. and delivered sequentially by the second half of 2027.

Including the latest deal, HD KSOE has so far won orders for 95 vessels worth $12.76 billion, achieving 70.7 percent of its 2025 annual order target of $18.05 billion.

By vessel type, the company has received orders for 59 container ships, 14 tankers, 8 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, 6 liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessels, 5 LNG carriers, 2 ethane carriers, and 1 petrochemical product carrier (PC ship).
