With the arrival of the first cruise ships, Piraeus Port Authority S.A. officially inaugurated the 2026 cruise season, marking the beginning of another dynamic year for the country’s largest port.
More specifically, representatives of PPA S.A. welcomed at Passenger Terminal A “Miaoulis”, the “Viking Vesta”, the newest ship of Viking Cruises, which will make a total of 12 more calls in 2026, further strengthening the company’s stable cooperation with the country’s largest port.
Also, PPA S.A. executives visited the cruise ship “MSC Lirica”, which will arrive at the port of Piraeus a total of 13 times in 2026, partially disembarking passengers.
In 2025, the port of Piraeus welcomed 863 cruise ships, while the total number of passengers amounted to approximately 1.85 million passengers, which highlights the continuous strengthening of Piraeus’ position as a leading cruise destination in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The CEO of Piraeus Ports SA, Su Xudong, underlined the steadily increasing dynamics of cruises in Piraeus, noting that the strategic geographical location of the port, combined with the ongoing investments and the systematic upgrading of infrastructure and services provided, contribute substantially to the sustainable development of the sector.
The Piraeus Port Authority underlined that it continues to invest consistently in the upgrade of its infrastructure and services, enhancing the port’s position as a strategic cruise hub at a national and international level.
