According to TradeWinds, Greek shipowner Harry Vafias has doubled an order for crude and product carriers at Hyundai Group yards placed in November, taking his total outstanding tanker and gas carrier orderbook to 13 vessels.
Citing market sources, TradeWinds said the Greek owner’s tanker arm, Stealth Maritime, has been identified as the party behind a KRW 481.6bn ($326.8m) contract for four newbuildings announced by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries this week.
The yard said it has secured deals for two 157,000-dwt crude tankers and a pair of 115,000-dwt product carriers on account of an “Oceania-based company” it did not identify.
