Chinese shipping company Fuzhou Wuyang Refined Oil Trading has placed an order for a new LNG bunkering and supply vessel to be built by Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore and Engineering.

The newbuilding contract awarded to CIMC SOE also includes an option for an additional ship from the same series. Each ship will have two IMO type C cargo tanks with a total capacity of 12,000 cubic metres. The LNG cargo in each tank will be stored at a temperature of -163 degrees Celsius.

The vessels will also be built with shallow draughts and a bow thruster to permit navigation even in narrow inland waters. The propulsion system of each ship will consist of an all-electric setup driving azimuthing stern thrusters, and this configuration will deliver a speed of 13 knots even at full load.

Wuyang Tanker intends to use each bunkering vessel to serve multiple customers on as few voyages as possible, hence reducing operating costs and berthing times.

Each ship will also have an ice class B hull, a DP2 system, and a projected service life of 30 years.
