Costamare is reportedly being linked to an order for 12 newbuilding container ships at a Chinese shipyard. The ships will have a capacity of 9,200 teu and, according to market sources, will be built at the facilities of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
The New York-listed company had previously closed an agreement for the construction of four ships, with a carrying capacity of 3,100 teu, at Zhoushan Changhong International, which was extended to build six ships.
According to the schedule, the delivery of the vessels will take place between the second and fourth quarters of 2027 and each will be chartered directly for an eight-year term with Ocean Network Express (ONE).
