Globus Maritime Limited is pursuing a strategy of gradually expanding its fleet through newbuild vessels, Chief Executive Officer Athanasios Feidakis said in an interview with Japanese media.
The company placed its first newbuilding order with Nihon Shipyard in 2022 and took delivery of its first Japanese-built vessel in early 2024.
Globus currently operates a fleet of nine bulk carriers and has two 64,000-deadweight-ton (dwt) vessels under construction at Nihon Shipyard.
The shipping company expects to take delivery of two Ultramax bulk carriers from Japanese shipyards later this year, further investing in the renewal and competitiveness of its fleet. Feidakis said the company’s relationship with Japan extends well beyond shipbuilding to include financial institutions, vessel operators and cargo business.
“Our relationship with Japan is not about one ship, but about one hundred ships,” he said.
