According to a latest Allied Shipbroking report, Greek owners have doubled their investments in secondhand vessels, compared to their income from ship sales, in the first nine months of 2021.
Specifically, Greeks have acquired 297 vessels at a total price exceeding USD 5.21 billion. Most of these were dry bulk vessels, while investment was also made in 72 tankers, 28 boxships and four LNG carriers.
In the same period, Greek owners sold 187 vessels in the secondhand market, collecting over USD 2.57 billion.
