Germany’s KfW IPEX-Bank has announced its support for Carisbrooke Shipping’s fleet modernisation programme with a financing of around €26 million, backed by Dutch export credit insurance company, Atradius.

The financing will facilitate the construction of two general cargo vessels, each with a capacity of 7,700 DWT, ordered from Thecla Bodewes Shipyards in the Netherlands, KfW IPEX-Bank said in a social media post on 27 February.

Part of the ‘Labrax’ series, the vessels will feature diesel-electric propulsion systems designed for fuel efficiency and sustainability.

We are thrilled to support Carisbrooke Shipping in their commitment to environmentally friendly and sustainable maritime freight transport,’ said Andreas Ufer, Member of the Management Board of KfW IPEX-Bank.
