Maersk announces intention to partner with Grindrod

Maersk announced an agreement to partner with the logistics activities of the Grindrod Intermodal Group in South Africa, enabling customers seamless access to a wider range of logistics & service offerings.

An announcement reads:

The Grindrod Group is well known and respected within the South African market with over a hundred years of experience in depots, warehousing, inland transportation, and ocean feeder operations. Bringing together the logistics operations, skills and capabilities from Maersk and the Grindrod Intermodal Group under this joint venture will build a base for future growth.

We have taken significant steps on our transformation journey during the last years and we are extremely serious about becoming an end-to-end logistics service provider. Our controlled asset network – with multiple flows to market, our cutting-edge digital platforms, and our people – with deep industry expertise and market insights – allows us to differentiate ourselves and offer best in class service. Coupling that with the solid foundation and logistical expertise of the Grindrod Intermodal Group, we look forward to further expanding our customer value propositions.

The transaction is subject to obtaining regulatory approvals. Once we have additional information regarding the closing of the transaction, we will inform you accordingly. It is business as usual for both companies which remain separate until the closing.

Throughout this process we aim to give as much clarity and notice as possible, but should you have any further queries please feel free to contact your local sales representative who will be happy to answer these questions.
