MSC Lirica To Homeport In Piraeus

MSC Lirica has operated from her summer base of Piraeus for the past 6 weeks and owner MSC Cruises has paid tribute to the Greek travel trade and the country’s holidaymakers who have so far boarded the ship. This positioning further strengthens the offering of MSC Cruises in the eastern Mediterranean for the season.

We are a truly international brand that attracts a wide range of different nationalities and passengers of all ages. And whatever their different and specific aspirations for what constitutes a great and memorable holiday, the Eastern Mediterranean delivers on all counts because there is something for every type of traveller. Culture and traditions that date back thousands of years, pristine beaches and fabulous weather – these are all rich ingredients for a perfect cruise holiday.

Angelo Capurro, MSC Cruises’ Executive Director, said, “We are extremely proud to be in a position to offer our guests and travel agent partners for the summer a growing choice of cruise holidays to a range of different destinations across the Eastern Mediterranean from closer to their homes and a dedicated Greek experience and onboard service that is coupled with a cosmopolitan ambience.”

To meet the demand from guests and would-be cruisers, MSC Cruises tailored an itinerary to feature the best and most beautiful places the region has to showcase. Thus, guests onboard MSC Lirica can visit a range of fascinating destinations, some of the attractions include the a tour of ancient Athens and the world-famous Acropolis; the place of miracles in ancient times in the Holy Land: the Sea of Galilee; Ephesus, one of the most important cities of the ancient world, on the border between east and west; and Paphos, an ancient town located on the southern coast of Cyprus.

While onboard, MSC Lirica offers a distinctive cruise experience centred on elegance, comfort and hospitality with our crew highly trained and multilingual, making guests feel at home. From room service attendants and table waiters to shops and tour guides, they will be there whenever you need them, ensuring you enjoy a seamless holiday experience. The Greek support is indeed dedicated to making holiday dreams come true.

With countless ways to relax or let loose on board, the guest experience is elevated to a whole new level on MSC Lirica. With 60% of her public spaces completely re-imagined, she boasts over 550m2 of shopping space. Highlights include:

  • A impressive space across 2 decks, the dedicated retail space offers guests everything they desire, across 12 beautiful on-board boutiques.
  • A line-up of world-class brands such as Michael Kors, Furla, Dior, Gucci and Armani.
  • The dedicated Jewellery area selling luxury watch and jewellery spaces
  • MSC Shop where guests can find all their favourite MSC-themed merchandise, including for only the second time ever, a range of ship-specific products

An atmosphere of relaxed spaciousness pervades, with magnificent internal vistas from the foyer and unimpeded ocean views from the lounges’ floor-to-ceiling picture windows.

There is a choice of lounges and bars including the glamourous Beverly Hills Bar or traditional English-style Lord Nelson Pub, the perfect venue for a pre-theatre drink.

For families, there is a children’s play area created in collaboration with LEGO Group and Chicco as well as a spray park and two swimming pools plus a full programme of activities for kids of all ages.

The MSC Aurea Spa offers a haven for those wishing to unwind and, in the evening, the Broadway Theatre offers entertainment each night.  And with two main restaurants, a buffet and the popular Kaito Sushi Bar, guests have a choice of formal or more casual dining options.

Mr Capurro concluded, Looking ahead to our Summer 2023 season, we are increasing the capacity with a bigger ship, MSC Musica, thanks to the popularity and attractiveness of this incredible area that is most enjoyed from the perspective that only a holiday at sea onboard a cruise ship can bring”.
