A step towards enhancing the operational efficiency of the Piraeus Container Terminal is the granting of an Authorised Consignee licence to PCT S.A. by the Hellenic Customs Authority and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).

The new licence allows the company to handle directly, at its approved facilities, cargo arriving by rail under the customs transit procedure. This will speed up customs procedures, reduce delays and improve the efficiency of the supply chain. The development further strengthens the role of PCT and the Port of Piraeus as a key hub for combined transport and freight handling, providing faster service to customers and partners.

The company itself describes the licence as an important milestone for its operations and for connecting the port with the railway network. PCT’s CEO is Chen Dong, while the company operates Piers II and III of the Piraeus Container Terminal.
