The Piraeus Port Authority announced the arrival of the ship “Tourmaline AceCE” at the port of Piraeus.
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines is among the leading maritime vehicle transport companies worldwide, with a fleet of over 95 specialized ships, designed to transport all types of vehicles – from passenger cars to heavy machinery – with the capacity to transport approximately 5,000 standard-sized vehicles per ship.
As part of the collaboration, the M/V “Tourmaline Ace”, one of the newest ships in MOL’s fleet, made its first call at the port of Piraeus on March 10, carrying approximately 1,000 vehicles destined for the Greek market.
The ship is a typical example of MOL’s new generation of Pure Car and Truck Carriers and is distinguished by its liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion system, which significantly contributes to reducing emissions, achieving up to 25%–30% less CO₂ emissions, 85% less NOx emissions and up to 98% less SOx emissions compared to conventional fuels.
The CEO of PPA S.A., Su Xudong, stated: “The approach of modern, new generation ships, such as the M/V Tourmaline Ace, strengthens the port’s position as a strategic vehicle traffic hub in the wider region, while at the same time highlighting our commitment to sustainable development and environmentally responsible port activities.”
According to Piraeus Port Authority S.A., this development supports the role of the port of Piraeus in the international vehicle supply chain, while reflecting the company’s continued commitment to investing in innovation, technological upgrading and sustainable development, through partnerships that promote modern transport solutions with a reduced environmental footprint.
