Stena Drilling has secured a contract extension with BP for a mobile offshore drilling unit (MODU) to be deployed in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
Stena Drilling said on 7 February that it had signed a contract extension with BP for the Stena IceMAX MODU.
The extension will see the MODU mobilize to the U.S. Gulf of Mexico in direct continuation of the initial one-well program offshore Newfoundland, with an estimated duration of 90 days, for a further scope of two years.
Delivered in 2012, Stena IceMAX is a dual mast ice-class drillship, capable of drilling in water depths up to 10, 000ft.
