TMS Cardiff Gas places first LNG order in China

CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has signed the order to construct  four firm and two options for LNG carriers with European owner TMS Cardiff Gas, each with a capacity of 174,000 cu metres.

“This contract signing signifies our successful entry into Europe’s large LNG carrier market, demonstrating recognition from mainstream European shipowners and marking a significant breakthrough in our market expansion efforts,” stated Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.

The LNG vessel model covered by this contract represents the fifth-generation design of the “Changheng Series,” independently developed and designed by the shipyard. With six new orders added, the global order book for this model now totals 45 vessels, establishing a new global record for orders of this LNG vessel type.

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has further enhanced and upgraded this vessel model, now featuring ice-class navigation capabilities and multiple low-carbon and energy-saving technologies. Key advantages include low overall energy consumption, excellent low-temperature performance, high cargo capacity, and intelligent operation and maintenance systems.

The vessel with be equipped with an advanced NO96 Super+ containment system, the vessel achieves international leading standards in critical indicators such as the EEDI, environmental performance, and Boil-Off Rate. Additionally, it reduces carbon emissions by over 10 tons per day during navigation and can access 120 LNG terminals across all continents, demonstrating exceptional global navigability.
