The tanker Magic Wand of the Vafias Group saved lives in Algeria, when it received a distress signal from local authorities for people in danger at sea.
The ship immediately interrupted its journey and sent one of its lifeboats to search. The crew located the missing people at sea, collected them and safely transported them to the tanker. There, they were provided with dry clothes, hot drinks and food, until the arrival of the coast guard vessel.
The ship’s flag (Liberia) as well as the classification society are expected to award a special safety and assistance award to the crew and company of the Magic Wand, recognizing their impeccable response and professionalism.
