Y/KNOT Invest is entering the tanker market, implementing an investment plan it presented during a recent successful IPO.

Specifically, the company announced the acquisition of its first Aframax tanker, marking its strategic expansion beyond the dry cargo market.

Y/KNOT Invest is acquiring an Aframax tanker built in 2009 at Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyards, with a capacity of 105,599 dwt, which will be renamed “AMETHYST”.

The price of the vessel amounts to 44.1 million dollars. According to the company, the price is significantly lower than the independent valuation of the ship, which amounts to $49.33 million.
