Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has inked agreements with three ports, Hamburg and Wilhelmshaven in Germany and Valencia in Spain, to build green shipping corridors and advance low-carbon port cooperation between China and Europe, by optimizing freight distribution networks, adopting renewable energy solutions and scaling up clean fuel bunkering, among others.

As an innovative emissions-reduction mechanism, “green shipping corridors” focus on cutting maritime carbon emissions by promoting zero-carbon technologies through collaboration among ports, shipping companies, and governments.

Under the agreements, Zhoushan Port will partner with the three European ports and work alongside relative companies and institutions to expand shore power usage, optimize transport networks, and utilize renewable energy.
