COSCO places major boxship order

COSCO Shipping Holdings’ subsidiary COSCO Asset Management has signed agreements for the construction of 18 container ships, with a total value exceeding 2.9 billion USD.

Under the first contract, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and China Shipbuilding Trading will build 12 22,000 TEU dual-fuel LNG-powered container ships for 224 million USD each, for a total cost of 2.688 billion USD.

The second contract is for the construction of six 3,200 TEU container ships by CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding and China Shipbuilding Trading for a total price of 2.039 billion CNY ($302.05 million).

Deliveries of the 22,000 TEU capacity ships are scheduled between 2028 and 2030, while the supply ships are scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2029.
