High-level meeting on European strategies for the maritime industry and ports

A high-level meeting on the implementation of the European Maritime Industrial Strategy and the European Ports Strategy will be hosted in Athens on April 30, 2026, at the Eugenides Foundation, bringing together leading representatives from Greece and across Europe.

Keynote addresses will be delivered by the European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, and the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, underscoring the strategic importance of the event at both national and European level.

The event is organized by the Waterborne Technology Platform in cooperation with the Eugenides Foundation and is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy.

Among the participants are key stakeholders from industry, shipping, ports, research, and policymaking, representing the full value chain of the European maritime ecosystem.

The thematic sessions of the conference will focus on innovation, competitiveness, and skills, at a critical juncture for the sustainability and transition of Europe’s maritime and port industries.

In parallel, the European strategies for the maritime industrial sector and ports will be presented, while dedicated discussions will address:

-short-sea shipping, passenger vessels, and insularity

-maritime technology

-port ecosystems

-skills, education, and quality employment opportunities
